Try designing experiments in pickup (instead of just blindly improving), if you verify if something can work for you or not. Specifically, Take something to try out from a book or audio or video you observed and apply the following sources to verify them:

StickK.com (to get yourself to actually do the experiment
"Sample Size: How Many Survey Participants Do I Need?" (do give you confidence that even if a girl "rejects" you, that you're still probably attractive as a person)
"Steps of the Scientific Method [Overview]"
"Hypotheses"
"Experimental Procedure"
"Conducting a Science Experiment" (the idea on data tables could be useful for collecting data IN FIELD--though a camera works beautifully if you have one available)
