Guys, ok I've met this girl on a couple of previous occasions, I'm pretty sure she will recognize me and thinks I'm cool.

I found her profile on Facebook...

Should I poke her (and wait for response?) .... OR .... Just add her as a friend and attach a one line message?? and if so... what would that one line message be??

any thoughts... you guys rock!

What I tend to do is add people in masses, therefore it doesn't look like that one person was special but just someone I saw and thought I knew. I wouldn't recommend doing this though, as it is kinda stupid now that I think about it. If you have talked with her before (not just saw her at a party but didn't speak with her), add her. Don't say anything, maybe change your status to something funny (I like "*name* is under your couch") or something random. If its been a while since you've seen her, I'd wait till you see her again.

Also, wait for other responses. Facebook isn't a strong point of mine.

Just invite then message privately saying, "hey, I think I met you at so and so place. Right?" privately so that you can work toward a number close since it is private rather than on the wall.

good points.... so I just prob go with adding the friend as opposed to the poke rite?? if I poke her, then I risk getting nothing back (I will be unable to write a oneliner with the poke)...... so I'm going with the friend request and one liner... thanks guys.. probably won't get to this until the end of the weekend so hopefully I will see some other thoughts...

The way i have been doing this on myspace would most likely work exactly the same on facebook.

I never invite a target or message them first. If i want someone to be more intrested in me, i comment a friends page that they know. I make sure the comment is mostly about me, is a DHV, and is intresting.

i basically go around commenting friends pages ocasionally with DHv type stuff and it has worked well for me...not only does it typically get my target intrested (especially if you comment multiple mutal friends), but sometimes you get bonus's, like invites or messages from others.

Never poke anyone on Facebook! I don't care if its your best friend since 3rd grade... its the most useless and creepy feature ever. I know for sure if I ever poked a girl on Facebook that I wasn't friends with I probably wouldn't ever be because she'd remember that creepy poke I sent her.

The only time you should do it is if its clearly a joke, but even then dont do it because its very dumb.

Maybe it works for adults who didn't have the internet as a big part of their life (I'm 18). Usually its adults who would use that feature because they are naive about things online and don't realize how creepy it makes them seem.

Ka I totally agree, I think poking a girl or adding her on facebook can be AFC in a lot of cases. I learned the hard way..

Guys thanks for the input.... I haven't done anything as of yet, but I agree with NEVER POKE or FRIEND a girl that you want to game on facebook. I think its defin AFC, I've tried the poke/friend thing with a couple others (and I got absolutely nowhere), and you're right I prob fucked it up.

ITS WEIRD. and especially if you dont even know her really? now lets think about it. lets just assume she is an attractive girl who is somewhat used to being hit on. and out of absolutely nowhere she gets this poke from someone she doesnt/barely even knows? wouldn't you be the slightest bit weirded out if you were her?

Ok, what's weird about "poking" on facebook? Just curious as to why you guys say this? I had some girl not on my friends list poke me (i knew her in real life), but I had never added her or sent her a message. I didn't think it was weird.

Well a few questions:
1. How old are you?
and
2. How do you guys know each other?

For real like a poke is just plain creepy, if you're gonna poke someone you might as well just add them as a friend. Its a lot less creepy to be added by someone, then have some strange unknown person just poke you. I know all my friends feel the same way too.
