| I'm no expert at this but this is my personal findings and viewpoint...
It sounds like you're not comfortable on the dance floor.
If you want to pick up girls in that environment you need to be comfortable in that environment.
So work on your dancing skills and perhaps take classes such as salsa. It is a great way of meeting women and getting used to being on the dance floor with them.
As for approaching you need to be careful, you must be sure that they will respond to you, if not you will be seen by the whole dance floor getting rejected.
The dance floor is generally the women's domain and they enjoy doing their thing with their girlfriends, you need to make sure you aren't crashing their party. You will notice a trend, groups of girls dancing and a drunken guy making a fool of himself trying to get into their group, breakdancing or doing something ridiculous, it never fairs well.
So I guess it's just a feel for the situation and if they are sending any IOI's your way.
Once you are dancing together though however, it's nice to sort of challenge her dancing skills and have a laugh and a little tease.
Don't get too carried away and think the battle is over once you are dancing together, you'll get a; "calm down boy" or "easy tiger" remark, you still need to have that push pull interaction, stating physically rather than verbally that you don't "need" to be dancing with her, your willingness to leave her and that you can pretty much dance with any other girl in the club, you will see that she will try to impress you.
Remember women respond much more to their emotions, demonstrating that you are confident on the dance floor and dancing with a pretty girl is just something you are used to doing, doing it whilst exciting her, will have a massive impact compared to trying to bring her energy levels down and talk to her.
Gradually you can build kino and get closer in which case you can suggest moving somewhere more intimate to do your spoken routines.
Hope that helps!
