Like with most things, the best way may lay somewehere in between.
Showing no interest often turns on girls, in a way that they really want to
make you interested in them. They're like: "Wow, why doesn't this guy tries to hit on me, like all those other guys?".
BUT, obviously, this alone won't work. Because they can associate you with nerdy guys who are to shy, or disinterested because the girl seems to be way out of his league.
Furthermore 'using the Tao of Steve' will work, to create some interest. But keep in mind, that at some point you have to show some interest in the girl. That's crucial.
And as an answer to your question, trying to seduce a woman without 'kino' is just stupid. I mean, bear in mind what your goal exactly is, then think about achieving it without 'kino', makes little sense, eh.
But yeah, I really liked the movie. And there are a lot of truths in there.
