This is a strange field report. Here's the set-up:

I'm hanging out with some friends at one of their apartments. My friend was texting her cousin, who I have seen pictures of and is pretty cute. I'll call her HB7. I decided to see if I could manage to pick her up without even meeting her or talking to her myself. Just to clarify, HB7 was not present at the apartment, she was just being texted. As my friend was texting HB7, I told her to tell her something (I don't remember all the details).

This ended up starting a conversation between myself and HB7, but we were speaking through text messages through my friend (who, again, is her cousin). So we were talking through the mutual person and I was running cocky/funny game by telling my friend what to say to her. It was going well because she was starting to show interest.

However, I made a mistake. I took it too far and ended up being in the position where I was chasing her, giving her the dominance. I realized this when one of her responses was just a single word, "Wow." Again I don't remember all the details. I knew it was time to try a little cat-string theory. I was already giving her way too much attention, it was time to take it all away from her. I went for the freeze out by telling my friend to say "Nvm he changed his mind" so that she would think I was no longer interested and to show her just how quickly she could lose me. She replied to that with just a "K." I didn't give my friend anything to say back because I was done talking to her. The freeze out had started.

So some time passed and my friend and HB7 were still texting but they had moved on to other things. They were talking about some family thing coming up or something. All of a sudden my friend told me that HB7 brought me up again. Apparently she said something along the lines of, "So this guy Smiley....why is he so intent on meeting me?" I told my friend to reply something like "Because he could tell you wanted to and was generous enough to give you a chance, but you blew it." Then HB7 told her to give me her number and for me to text her myself. So my friend gave me the number and I saved it, but I didn't text it. I wasn't planning on texting it until the next day because it was already getting a little late and my phone was dying.

About half an hour passes and I still hadn't texted HB7. My friend gets another text from her saying something like, "Alright just send me his number." I had no definitely re-established my position of dominance in the situation. Another half hour or so passes and my phone vibrates. I look down and see that HB7 has gone ahead and taken the initiative.

HB7 11:39PM: Smiley?
Smiley 11:40PM: HB7?
HB7 11:40PM: Yup!

Then I didn't reply. My phone was seriously about to die so I just let it die. I told my friend (again, her cousin) to text her saying that my phone had died and that I would text her the next day. The next day we texted for most of the day and she also friend requested me on Facebook.

So yeah, this wasn't a normal field report. I just felt pretty proud that I was able to pull it off without ever meeting her or talking to her myself. I was also proud of myself for being able to mess up and still get her to chase me in the end. Cat-string theory is like magic....
