I have noticed that if I draw in public I tend to attract a lot of attention and get a lot of compliments. I'm senior art student, so I have had some professional training. How would I be able to draw random people at a club, (great practice btw, working on live people) and use that to improve my game? Can you do this without seeming weird? I guess you could play around with eye contact and jokes when drawing.

Carry around a notepad and pen. Autograph it with your number.

Shouldn't you say something before you whip out a sketchbook?

Drawing with a pen is ballsy, I like that. I could use the experience, every line is important than and you have to take your time. Also less things to carry than a pencil (pencil requires an extra eraser and sharpener).

Also should every drawing be given away? Like if you really like one of your drawings, say somethign I'm keeping this for my portfolio! I will send you a copy. ;-p"

If you're walking, and a hot girl is walking towards you, walk in front of her to stop you and start drawing.

See if you can find a carbon copy note pad so then whatever you draw gets transferred onto other pieces of paper, which you can give to her (not sure if they exist).

A year ago i got interested in drawing Anime style drawings. Put a few of these up on MySpace and girls kept asking me to draw one of them in a Anime style. Problem is i'm not a natural artist, and it takes me hours to draw to a half decent standard. :D

Your idea of drawing girls as an opener is quite promising, as long as you draw quickly, and can hold their attention whilst doing it.

Since I would assume most of the drawings would be portraits I could probably knock them out in 5-10 minutes. Maybe even faster once I get comfortable with a pen. Although shading can drastically add time to it, if that necessary.

A possible problem is that I notice every flaw in the face and will portray that. I did an experiment on myspace where I offered to draw 50 peoples portraits to a certain degree of finish. I got about 11 of them semi-done before life caught up with me. :-( I'd like to finish that someday. Anyway one of the women I drew had some self esteem issues and forced me to draw her even thinner than she was. Even taken her face down to almost skeletal levels, she still wasn't satisfied. I realize you can't please everybody, but if its 60-80% of the people your still good.

Anime is tricky, similar to cartooning, although they pushed me away from it most of college since its not good for portfolio work.
