Hey guys
I've had a couple of message exchanges with this girl on jDate, but it's kinda strange. Take a look:
ME:
"Hey, I'm not that great at writing emails to people I don't know, but bear with me.
I just had to email you because something in your profile caught my eye, not sure what it was, maybe it was what you said loving to travel, because I like going to new places myself. So I want to see if you're as nice, interesting and attractive as you are in you profile.
You probably get 1,000,000 emails every day from guys confessing their love for you or saying "you're hot, let's talk", so this emails should be *really* refreshing.
I'm not one to talk about myself, but the short of it is that I'm 26, have my act together, and funny, so if you don't like laughing, this may not work.
Worst case scenario? you might make a good friend, so let's meet up for coffee sometime.
KamenRiderBeast,"
No response from her for about 2 months, so I send another email, then after a while...
HER
"Hi KamenRiderBeast,
I am so sorry. You must think I'm the worst person in the world. However, I just really suck at this thing and I'm not gonna lie I kinda hate this type of thing. It's hard to put yourself out there in front of complete strangers. Anyways, you seem really nice and friendly! Thanks for emailing me. What are you studying in school? What brought you to Vancouver? "
ME
"Well I'm glad you enjoyed the email. Don't feel bad about not being free flowing with "this thing", Ideally we could start talking to each other in real life like it was meant to be, but it's just hard to find Jewish people, especially in Vancouver.
Anyways, the reason I'm here is because of school (I met my current supervisor while he was in Calgary) and the weather in Alberta (in which a polar bear is much more useful than a car).
I'm currently studying Igloo design

(I only do one serious answer at a time)
My turn for "get to know you" questions:
1) What is your favourite food?
2) Who is your favourite comedian?
3) What do you like to do for fun?
Bonus question: what's your name? "
HER
"Hi,
It's true about what you say... Vancouver is a really hard place to meet anyone I find. I did my schooling out in Montreal... and maybe it's because there are more students in the downtown area... but I found it way easier to meet people.
My favourite food is Greek... souvlaki, greek salad (it's the feta), lamb, all that stuff I love!... I also like Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Indian... Okay, let's be honest... I like everything. I love trying new foods and going out to eat!
My favourite comedian... I don't know..??? I've seen Russell Peters on the Internet... um... I like Tina Fey, Rebel Wilson and Dane Cook.
For Fun, I like to go jogging, snowboarding/skiiing, go out with friends, go to movies, read, travel.... I like anything that has an adventure!
To answer your last question.... you'll have to wait for my name. Sorry.
Questions for you:
1) Do you have siblings?
2) What do you like to to for fun?
3) What are you doing in the summer?
4) What is your favourite thing to do in Vancouver? "
I'm not sure what's going on here about the name thing, and how I should reply. I don't want to seem too eager here, but I don't think this is a proper way to correspond with someone. I mean what's going to happen if she gives me her name? KGB is gonna get to her?
Anyways, what's your take on this? just brush it off and keep flowing or insist on a name before responding to her questions?
