Without knowing your level of interaction with her prior to this, it's difficult to even suggest how it might play out. To be honest, it doesn't look too promising; for all you know, her "medical procedure" could have been anything from an abortion to having her tonsils out so you may have, inadvertently, created a negative emotional association with her now.

It's not your fault since you weren't to know, but it's maybe worth thinking about tact in future and how appropriate your jokes are for the person you're contacting. Remember too, onscreen interactions usually require some sort of non-verbal signal, like emoticons or other indicators of your general tone, especially if it's someone you haven't had a lot of communication with.
