| Curious as to what PUAs here think of running game in China, if they know anything about it that might be useful, have done it, etc. I live here, but any insights from PUAs who visited would certainly help.
Here's my deets:
>From New York. I'm white, 6', I'd say my looks are on my side, but I still need to get my style together.
>Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China
>25
>I read one of Juggler's books on pickup, as well as Strauss's The Game several years ago. Ever since I've known a lot about it, but I haven't really tried any of it. Recently, in a desperate English "activity class" where I had no idea what we were supposed to be doing, if anything. I tried a few palmistry readings on the girls in the class (not really a formal lesson, we were out in a park for a picnic). I realized quickly how they reacted to it, and the conversation potential there, and decided to start studying all this stuff again.
>Studying ~5 years, Practicing 0
>More intellectual stuff, personality games, palm/mind reading, etc. Not really into magic, but I'm open to learning.
>Studying Mandarin, studying Mandarin, studying Mandarin. Playing SC2 and various other video games, D&D.
>To improve my social skills, get laid more often than once/2+ years, find an LTR and settle down with my soulmate.
My Mandarin is okay, we're talking Intermediate to Upper Intermediate, I feel like I'm at a point in the language where I can learn the new vocab I will need for a situation and over time execute it better and better. I can read/write it and get around in most situations, but obviously more advanced/idiomatic/longer conversation is over my head still.
The unique challenge is that Mandarin is a harsh mistress, and many cultural concepts require a creative translation, to say the least. Half of what I say is still a tortured from-English pattern of speaking, so I'm still trying to hit my groove. I've already translated a few of the concepts/scripts such as The Cube and looked up the basics of Chinese Palmistry.
As for putting any of it into practice, yes, I know, I need to start the approaches, and I have a case of the AA, approach anxiety, if that's still what they call it in the community. Typical newbie stuff. But lately I've been trying to scope out some decent places to even start, such as a mall in Shatoujiao, or maybe somewhere in Luohu. Trouble with China is that there are not too many bars to be had, and those that you do have are often frequented by prostitutes or women who are otherwise there on business, not to be social or have fun.
Anyways, if there are any other Shenzhen (or China in general) PUAs I'd love to hear from you, and give a shout out! Look forward to hearing from you! _________________ -Stoney
