Heyy guys I don't usually post in this part of the forum but recently I realized how I need to work on this area of my life. Here's my issue: for a long time I was very sick and bed ridden and eventually I got better (thank God) I was in pain 24/7 could barely eat, sleep, drink or breath... But I got better and hv fully recovered. I didn't ask for any of it. And I could spend time being depressed about it (which I do from time to time) but I realized my journey in life maybe different from the average persons. So I have to deal with what I got.

I missed out on a lot, my dad never really taught me much, like how to work, be a man, so I had to figure everything out myself. But I'm not a bitter person, I feel God showed me how to forgive and influenced me to help people. I love helping people, I've helped disabled children and orphans in Africa. But the thing is, when it comes time for someone to help me in life, NO one is there. My older brother CONSTANTLY puts me down, and acts condesending towards me. Said, I'm like a bum and he's better than me. I joke with him abt things too but never mean it, plus I've done a lot of good toward him.

But I KNOW thats not me, I think i hv great potential, im smart and dedicated, I just need direction. So guys, I'm almost 21, I don't have a car, or a Job.

What can I do to start making money that can allow me to be INDEPENDANT of others. I just want my own things. I'm open for anything that works, doesn't have to be something I hv a personal interest in.

Guys if you could help me out I'd appreciate it so much! Thanks!!

The replies can be quite slow down in these sections, better answers will probably come over the days and weeks.

However, to make money you have to earn money (or get very, very lucky and win the lottery or something, but that's not really a career plan!)

I don't know how your circumstances set you up for that, but if you want more money, a job is the only real way to go.

Where do you live?

I´m 18 and make 38 dollars/hour (250 swedish krones) through phone sales. You can live on that and with some saved up capital make loan at a bank for an apartment.

I know many my age and up to 22 that makes twice as much.

I know many heavy recruiters in different industries so ask away. The best way in sweden to make money without experience at our age is either working as some kind of a mechanic (then you need some contacts and background with motors etc.) or learning sales (really helpful if you want some kind of career).

My general impression of your post was that you feel sorry for yourself. That´s no good if you want to be independent.

Yea dude you just gotta get out there and do it.

Find any job you can just to get the ball rolling and see some money. This will be hugely motivating.
If you don't like the job you're in, spend as much free time as possible looking for a better one (or get two, or three). The downside of this is that you have no free time. The upside is that you will save lots of $ because you won't have time to spend it.

Once you have money you can learn how to trade stocks if you want to make more money quickly (or lose it just as quickly). It's an intelligent way to gamble. Otherwise learn about more secure forms of investing.

How old are you and for how many years have you worked? Accepting the first dead end job you can get your hands is not the best solution. Spend at least 12 hours considering your choice and opportunities.

And yes you can make lots of money on stocks but the fact that you just say stocks and leave out different funds, values and commodities makes me feel that you don´t realize that people under 25 tend to lose money rather than gaining due to lack of experience. Besides trading like this you make money in procentages. Say you gain 1000% (I guarantee you, you won´t), if you had 1000 dollar invested, you will only gain 9 000 dollars. But YEAH go make money on the stock marker and then please tell me how you did it!

Guys, thanks SO much for your posts, I appreciate it. Warmth, that sounds very interesting - I'd like a job like that. Or any kind of job that can pay that high. I'm 21, and I live in America, what would you recommend me.

I don't really try to feel sorry for myself, but I do get sad a lot. I'm trying to better myself every way I can.

12 hours? spend 24 hours or a week if you have to.
It's simple though. How to get over a depression with having no money? Go and make some. Even if the job sucks you will be immensely happy each time that paycheck rolls through. If the job sucks that's also extra motivation to find something better as soon as possible. But yes, definitely think long and hard about which position to take. If you can start off with a job you enjoy that's perfect.

As for trading I was offering a method for making more money in the quickest way possible. I also stated that you can lose it just as quickly and that one should consider more secure forms of investing. Also when I say "trade stocks" I'm not saying jumping in and blindly throwing all your money away. Like anything you choose to do, you should learn about what you're doing first. So "stock trading" really means: talking to traders, finding traders that have consistently good results, learning how to trade yourself, making (and sticking to) a trading plan.

Yes, as you say. Didn´t mean to appear rude, it´s just that few realize how hard it is to make good cash at our age:) you apparently do.

Well now you did what me and Dodgez warned you about:P you said you want the first job offer available without knowing what it is as long as it offers high cash. Be careful, I know more than a couple of people that has been cheated out of money through false promises of employers. I´ve lost like 1000 dollars that way. I imagine that it is a bigger problem in the US (high job safety in Sweden where it is really hard to fire people). Another thing to be warned about, if you make money on provision, then your first months will be poor unless your a quick learner. Furthermore, it is hard to make sales and provision if you get sad a lot. IMO confidence is more important than it is in pick up.

So what kind of job you want depends on if you can survive a couple of months of hardship to learn a trade to make good provision (as I said, I recommend sales or mechanics). And if you don´t become good at that trade, then you have wasted your time from an economical stand point.

What I would recommend? Well I don´t know the american market but from what I hear, sales persons have a much higher reputation there than in Sweden (generally, phone sales like I do it is considered to be below the cashier at Mcdonalds because prejudices). I would recommend you contacting different recruiters, googling jobbs in your current area and searching for jobb adds.

Just watch out for multi-level marketing schemes. They prey on young ambitious people looking to make money.

^ good advice, they exist everywhere and can seem very enticing.
Anything promising 'quick money fast' is suspect.

Why exactly don't you work?

We all want a lot, but not everyone works.

Right now I'm in the same situation as you... 18 and jobless. Networking though is huge when looking though. I just started and the first thing I did was go through my phone and text any relatives and friends that lived nearby. I basically cut right to the chase and said, "Hey, I'm looking for a job. At this point I'll take anything." Engage in some small-talk, show your gratitude, and you're done :). Much more enjoyable than filling out endless applications and hoping for a reply.

It's a marathon though. Just stay at it daily and you are BOUND to come across something. Keep at it and you'll get there :)

Hey you guys!

There are young people who earn good the same technology that we're using now.

If you're internet savvy and can learn and adapt skills easily, surf for work online.

There are a lot of people who can use your online skill and pay you good money for it.

Read business and outsourcing forums, they will help you a lot.

Good luck!

Could you give some examples of this type of jobb? It sounds very interesting.
