I posted most of this in another thread but it deserves its own.

If you've ever struggled with weight loss then it's probably because you've been given the wrong information. If you've heard it from the media (or even from some doctors or friends) then there is usually a financial incentive for you to believe it and it's worth researching further because it could be false. This is not a conspiracy, it's reality, and the more you learn the truth about diet, health and the medical/pharmaceutical industries the easier it will be to understand why things are the way they are. The truth will not only help you lose weight, it will make you an infinitely healthier and more confident person.

The following myths will not help you lose fat:
Eating more fruit (sugar+carbohydrates)
Eating more vegetables (carbs)
Exercising (without changing your diet)
Counting calories
Eating less saturated fats

What will help you lose weight:
Significantly reducing carbohydrates
Eliminating sugar
Eliminating alcohol
Eating more saturated fat
Drinking more water

^If you handle this then you do not even need to exercise to burn fat.
But exercising the correct way will greatly aid in weight loss, and the correct way is not even that often or for that long a duration.

So how to lose weight?
To give it you as simple as possible here is a link from a fantastic blog (written by a self-experimenting doctor):
http://eatingacademy.com/how-can-i-lose-weight
Seriously, read this whole blog.

The most important thing to understand is the role that carbohydrates and sugar play on our body's ability to regulate insulin. It's complicated but basically carbs turn to glucose (sugar) when digested and this messes with our insulin sensitivity. The body then has to compensate and we get fat (and sick). Multiple preventable health problems are directly tied to this process including weight gain and obesity. Being aware of this will greatly improve one's health in all areas, and in fact there's evidence that shows that simply reducing carbohydrates to a certain level will alleviate or even cure Type-2 diabetes. This is only a glimpse of how damaging they can be, but most (if not all) processed foods are extremely high in carbohydrate, and it's a deliciously profitable industry.

There are mountains of scientific evidence backing these theories and it's worth looking into further.
If you're still concerned about the "dangers" of saturated fat, have a read of:

To understand in more detail the truth about weight loss + health read these FAQs:

For even more in-depth info with multiple studies and references I recommend the books:
Life Without Bread: How a Low-Carbohydrate Diet Can Save Your Life
Primal Body, Primal Mind: Beyond the Paleo Diet for Total Health and a Longer Life

This information will extend your life, and make your years much more enjoyable. The mental clarity alone that you experience when the body adjusts, will greatly improve your game and interactions with others. A healthy mind is a confident mind. The problem is that we're constantly misled by authorities and our peers, so many of us go our whole lives without realizing how healthy we can actually be.

yep, most people think that weight loss is a question of counting calories or exercising enough. When in reality it's all about knowing how body fat gets created based on what we eat.
