I wear Ray-Ban glasses (kinda hipster). I approach with "Hey can I get your opinion on something?" "Sure." "Glasses? (take off glasses) Or no glasses?"
This usually gets a smile and they ask me to do both again.
If they pick glasses (they always pick glasses) I respond with "Oh so you're more into the Clark Kent look than the Superman look." This gets a laugh almost every time. Some don't get the reference, and if they don't get it then they're probably not that interesting anyway.
I then joke about Clark Kent being a total hipster or how dumb everyone in Metropolis is for not being able to figure this out. From there it's an easy transition to talk about the new Superman movie, or just into another topic of conversation.
WARNING!!
The girl always asks if the glasses are a prop or I need them to see, so I only recommend this if you actually have prescription glasses. The great thing about this question though is you can tell her to try them on, which is a prime opportunity for a neg or kino.
This opener is still a work in progress. Any recommendations (especially on the negging part) would be most appreciated.

Also some won't give me an inch once they answer the question. Here's an example:
Me: Hey can I get your opinion on something?
Her: Sure.
Me: Glasses? or no glasses?
Her: Glasses
Me: Cool. I guess you're more into the Clark Kent look than the Superman look.
*She laughs*
Me: I've never understood how people in Metropolis don't get Clark is Superman. Do you think if a bunch of hipsters took off their glasses they'd be unrecognizable?
*polite laugh*
**At this point I want to transition to something else, but have never been good at getting past the opener if they don't give me something to work with, ie putting in their own opinion or building on the Superman joke.**
The other common interaction
Me: Hey can I get your opinion on something?
Her: Sure.
Me: Glasses? or no glasses?
Her: Let me see both again.
(I do both and make funny faces as I do, which gets a smile)
Her: Do you need these to see or are they just for fashion?
Me: Oh they're real, try them on.
(She tries them on)
**I need a neg here, which I just don't have**
Thanks in advance!

(implying she has crossed eyes normally). _________________ “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!” ~Audrey Hepburn
