Hi guys,

I'm preparing for a big final exam for my MA degree. I'm also working and don't have a lot of time to study, so all free time I have has to be used in the best possible way. I was thinking of spicing up my studying and trying to get more info into my head more quickly by using some mnemonic tricks. I did a little research and the "Memory palace" seems to be working well for many people. I was wondering if any of you have experience and tips for learning large quantities of info fast.

Look up the "journey method". What I did was basically memorize 100 celebrities, and assigned each one a number from 1 to 100. Picture them wearing their number, and if possible, make the number relate to them in some way. For instance, Ron Jeremy is number 69 and I picture him wearing a shirt that has 69 on it. Tiger Woods is number 9 and I picture him holding his 9 iron. Once you have the list of people memorized, you can then apply tidbits of memorized knowlege to each person. It's basically a two stage process. The first is memorizing the list of people, then attributing a piece of knowlege that is assigned to each person.

I just joined the site, lets see how long it takes me to learn Japanese.

In the end I just used some brain maps, but I might try the memory palace when learning a new language, I'm thinking of learning German. Please do tell how it worked for your Japanese! A very difficult language to learn...
