| First off, is there any way to get rid of that tab in the corner that wants me to share the site?
A month ago my friend was real determined to get me to text a friend of his. I wasn't too keen on the idea at first, even though he told me that he'd let her know I was gonna text her. I couldn't shake the feeling that it wouldn't work, but I warmed up the idea quickly. Anyway, looking back at it, and after reading Braddock's book The Text and Phone Game, I realize all the things I did wrong, but there are also a few things in there that make me wonder if it was entirely my fault.
He said he'd tell her I was gonna text her, yet when I did, she asked who gave me her number. Normally I'd take that as the first sign of "No" but I decided to take a polite approach. Let me show you the conversation.
Me: Hey, it's *****'s friend.
Her: Which *****, haha
Me: Oh, ha, *****, sorry.
Her: Who are you lol
Me: I'm ******. I thought he told you. Guess not, haha.
Her: Haha umm hey? Lol
Me: Yeah, what's up?
That was pretty bad, looking back at it, so I wasn't off to a good start. Still, apparently it wasn't bad enough to get her to stop texting me.
Her: Nmm jc wbuu?
Me: Same here, just listening to music. Only thing that'll get me through this homework tonight.
Her: I didn't do any homework lol..How did you get my number btw..
Me: Oh, from *****, sorry. I thought he told you. Well, if you can't talk now I'll leave you alone, it's no problem.
Her: Oh okaay no its fine I was jww haha
I'm gonna skip the rest and say that we had a decent enough talk. I decided to lead it into music, since that's something I like and I figure just about everyone relates to. I considered that the opener, so I didn't keep that going for long because I was following Braddock's advice. I think I managed to interest her enough, because I got her Facebook that same day when I told her I was gonna take a shower.
The problem started when I texted her again. The 2 conversations we had after that didn't last very long at all, probably a little over an hour at most, and they always ended with me giving the last text. I figured the problem was the little attraction I built up during the first chat wasn't built up sufficiently again the second time, coupled with the fact that I was a random guy out of nowhere she didn't even meet in real life yet, so what reason would she have to give hours to text me?
So this isn't really a thread asking for tips on how to text girls you don't know (although that'd be nice in the long run lol); it's more about how I realize that I did a lot of things wrong, and I wanted to know how to make it less likely to happen again. I think everyone's gonna require a different attitude, because some girls are more accepting than others.
