How long do you wait until you reply on dating sites?

Hi,

quick question, how long should you wait until you reply to someone on a dating website? I don't want to seem desperate by replying too fast, but I also don't want them to move on if I'm taking too long to reply.

It has to do more about replying fast than replying slow.

no general rule. depends on how much attraction she gives you. if less, answer less, if a lot, answer a lot. quite simple. needs to be microcalibrated like in real life :D

Thanks, you're right.

How about initiating chat on pof? Is it something that should be avoided?

Depends on how long she takes. If she replies you within 10 minutes, respond to her right away and keep the conversation going. Don't listen to the whole "take a day or 2, don't appear to eager". That might work in person but with online, no matter how interested she was, she wouldn't dig through dozens of boring emails she gets everyday just to get yours if yours happens to be lost in the midst of them because you wait a day or two.

jup thats right, online its harder too get heat and the girl excited , and this best happens in chatting mode. so yes, go for chat! =)

Agree with GKS. If she's online get a back and forth convo going, get her number, bounce her to text, build a bit of comfort, and ask her to meet up for a drink.

If she takes like a day to reply, wait at least a few hours or even until the next day.
