There's this gym I go to frequently and there's this cute girl who works at the times that I frequent. I say hi to her whenever I see her and try to strike a small conversation. this only ranges from 30sec to a minute at a time...such as for instance this GYM closes at 10pm so around 9 when I came to the gym I mentioned jokingly that she's a free bird in one hour which she responded with a laugh.

The thing is that there are other guys who do, I am sure, talk with her and well yes some are a lot bigger than me (though I know that's not everything).

Also noticed recently she's wearing a ring on her middle finger. I don't know if she's single or not...I've been tempted to ask one of the other guys who work there

What's the best way for me to get this girls number and ask her out without sounding like I am hitting on her and be different from everyone else?

I think about sometimes before I enter some things I could say..but it's usually just the smile...can I get the protein shake...here you go...done.

Asking say what her favourite movies are is totally different from gym related stuff...this won't look weird you think as it would be direct that I want to get to know her.

I spoke with her a bit today..she seems to be the type of person who is bored at work (okay that's normal for everyone) and doesn't smile when serving. I think the best way to get her to open up is to make her laugh, without sounding cheesy...at the same time I don't want to say something like "how's your day been" because thats the same old question she probably would get asked and it would be the same scripted response
