what does replication value or R value mean?
Replicative value (a.k.a R Value) is the rate at which something can duplicate itself. Think a virus, or bacteria, computer virus. In animals and humans, it is the rate at which you reproduce by having children. Men's R Value is far far far far far far far higher than that of females:
The greatest officially recorded number of children produced by a mother is 69 by the first of the 2 wives of Feodor Vassilyev (b 1707-fl. 1782), a peasant from Shuya, 150 miles east of Moscow. In 27 confinements she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets and 4 sets of quadruplets. The children, were born in the period c. 1725-1765.
I can't find the exact number number for a man, but I know it is in a book called Why is Sex Fun? by Jared Diamond. I think it was something like 3500 or 750, but either way, that's still a hell of a lot of kids.
