This is a bit contradictory. Birth Control can be VERY unpleasant for woman if they have side effects. Furthermore, these side effects can take a very long time to correct themselves (up to a year, depending on the type of BC), even after they stop taking it. One of the more common effects is a loss of sex drive! One type of birth control, the IUD, can leave woman infertile if it's not properly installed (1 in 1000 or something like that). It's something your girlfriend should talk over with her doctor, but ultimately it's her decision. I do not believe it is ethical to push it on her.
