I've read around that approaching shld be done at a 45 degree angle, this makes it look less aggressive. What about the upfront face-to-face approach? On one hand it makes you look confident, yet it comes off as being too aggressive..

Which approach would you guys adopt?

A good follow thru for the F2F approach has got to be a direct opener.
"You look amazing and i HAD to come say hi" *maintain direct eye contact

45 degree approach works better with a question.
"This is random but do girls or guys lie more?" *body rock

Thoughts?

I think it is best to approach women like in Wayne's World. Shwing! Shwing!

If 'face-to-face' and the '45 degrees' was to have a face off....either is perfectly normal. As long as you make the 45 degrees appear natural and not like a crab!

More important is things like eye contact, facial expressions, voice tonality etc. Your overall body language.

Excerpt from The Definitive Book of Body Language

In addition to courtship displays, both may mirror each other's gestures and increase eye contact if they are both interested...

...Research has shown that men fear attack from the front and are more wary of a frontal approach, while women fear attack from behind and are wary of approaches from the rear.

If you are male, it's acceptable to approach a woman from the front and eventually you can angle yourself to 45 degrees.
