A few days ago i met a girl named Veronica at a house party. I had already seen her at a few other parties and we are friends on facebook. She also knows my ex girlfriend and was surprised to hear that we broke up 2 moths ago... she was quite stunning.
At the party itself i told her about my travel stories and she told me that she is going on a 2 month holiday in australia. In overall we had a nice little chat. I had to leave in a hurry so i didnt get a chance to say goodbye.
However, on the next day I wrote her on facebook:

ME: I didnt have a chance to say goodbye at the party but once your back from australia you have to tell me all about it. enjoy

VERONICA: ill defiantly do that!!:) are you in town for the upcoming time now? x

ME: yes. and yourself? when does your trip stat?

VERONICA: ill already fly next wednesday!!:)

Any ideas if she is into me so i can ask her out? i mean she said " are you in town for the upcoming time now? x" which is an IOI.

Usually i would just go for it and ask her out. But since she knows my EX i dont want to risk getting turned down cause that would just be a triumph for my EX.

What to do? and how should i respond?

Get her contact info while she is away and send her a random message or two while she is gone (Not full blown conversations, but someting cute/funny). Then when she gets back make her take you out and tell you all about the trip. She already agreed to this so just keep a positive vibe and all will work out.

Yeah, if you have a week till she leaves then try to get a quick meeting down. "Hey, I'm in your area of town...I'm headed to the Starbucks to grab a coffee, you should join me!" But an email would be cool for while she is gone on her trip. Send her a random picture "Spanking the monkey" and then a picture of a cute baby monkey or something like that.

You're thinking about it way too hard. Do what Crypto suggested. She's probably interested, but she's not thinking about it as seriously as you are. Ask her out, she will most likely say yes---she's making it EASY on you asking your availability.

And if by some weird chance she says no, who cares if your ex finds out? That's not going to make you look bad, especially if you take the rejection with a grain of salt.

Just FYI, I got turned down by my ex's best friend last summer and within a week my ex called me to hook up because it made her jealous that I even asked her friend out.
