Only used it once, got the idea from a friend who used it on an airplane, worked decently but wanted you guys' input on how to make it better or a better approach. I can't stand opinion openers, and I only use direct openers after I've played a gig on stage (I'm a musician) because I assume I have high enough value by that point to get away with anything. But I don't wanna rely on being on stage to get girls anymore. So here goes.

In the milk aisle at the grocery store:

Me: "I have this strange feeling that you're going to buy some milk today."
HB8: (laughs) "What would give you that idea"
Me: "You know I'm really good at these things. I can actually tell you a little bit about this 1% milk here."

(blah blah)

We joked a bit, then I wimped out, and I ended the conversation and didn't get her number because people were around. Would rather leave her laughing than take the walk of shame after she rejected me. Pathetic I know, but I'm new at this. And I like this opener because you can use it anywhere (laundromat: I have a feeling your clothes are dirty... etc)

So I was wondering if, before I try it again, you guys could give me some tips on how to improve/escalate from there? Or reassurance.

You did a pretty good opener. But the girl knows you approached her because you though she was cute. So hiding it will only make things more and more weird. So by you not saying it the girl will think your shy or don't have the balls to tell her. So here is what you should have done. After you opened.

Me: "I have this strange feeling that you're going to buy some milk today."

You: I have no idea. I just thought you were really cute and had to come over.

As far as the walk of shame, it's the only walk that will get you to where you want to go. You have to go through lots of rejections to succeed. In fact you should strive for rejections because the more you get rejected the better you become. The amount of times you get rejected corresponds with your success. Take this from me, the more vulnerable you make yourself to rejections and failure the more you will succeed. Learn how to put your real thoughts out there. If I see a girl who's cute on a train and I am nervous approaching her in front of many people I tell her exactly what's on mind " I saw you from far away and thought you were cute but was a bit nervous walking up in front of all these people". Learn how to do this in everything you will see lots of success.

Thanks man. Appreciated. Still trying to come to grips with the whole thing. Had rehearsal all night but should have time tomorrow to try this out and give it a fair chance. It's interesting saying the "you're cute" thing, I would've never thought of doing that at first. Oh well. Can't hurt. They're just women.

Yeah but conversely how good would you have felt if you'd got her number in front of all those people? None of them could have said shit cos they'd have known you were the man!

Also, speaking loudly and clearly and showing this girl that you didn't care what other people thought of you is a huge DHV!

I'm a musician as well and I assume you're an attention-seeker like me and that you love an audience, so turn that to your advantage and put on a performance for the store! Like Mystery says, a pick up artist is a performing artist!
