I was at the bar waiting for the bartender, and noticed this HB 9 looking my way. I couldn't think of an opener, so I just signaled her to come closer. When she got closer I used a situational "What are you drinking?"...SO chodey, I knew it, and she did too. She rolled her eyes and asked what I was drinking. When I said Rum and Coke, she said "That's like, a drink someone who just turned 21 would get..." she said it so seriously, and didn't even look at me...shit test. I used positive misinterpretation and said "Is that how you hit on ALL guys that you like? Cause it's not working..."
As soon as I said that, IOI-city. Talking into my ear, grabbing the back of my neck to pull me closer touching my chest, touching my leg, playing with her hair; it was like night and day. It was going well, but then...Another bump in the road that I didn't kow how to handle...THE CRYING OBSTACLE:

She was obviously concerned, since apparently her friend got a text from her ex, so like a good friend, she went to tend for her friend. We were all at the bar, and for situational awareness, it was: Me-HB9-Crying cockblock. She started talking to her friend to see what was wrong, and I asked HB9 if she was okay (genuinely concerned about her friend at that point, and HB9 thought that was sweet). She said she'll be fine, and then turned to her friend to talk to her. To not look chodey and wait around, I turned to a girl I brought out who's about an HB 8.5 (just as hott as HB 9 girl, but a few more LB's on her) to maybe get some jealousy going/takeaway; but this didn't work, her back was TURNED and FOCUSED on her friend who was crying pretty hard right now. I was gaming 8.5, but I wanted 9, so I turned back, and in a last ditch effort tapped her shoulder to get her attention. I know that wasn't the right move, but I exhausted the options I came prepared with.
So my question is this: Have you ever dealt with a crying obstacle, and if so, what are some strategies/techniques to keep the HB9 talking to me and continuing the sarge without seeming like a bitch to her crying friend? How do I manipulate logistics/positioning (Me-HB9-Crying friend who she was focused on) in a non-awkward way (You can't do a spin move and spin her away from her friend, because that'll just be insensitive, and it would seem as though you don't have social intuition on the situation) to continue the sarge?
P.S. This was the night I got a number by "making it rain" coins on the heads of 3 girls sitting on the sidewalk, asking for a cab fare from me while I was sarging them. Starting to realize that self-amusement is one of the most attractive things.
