So I've spent about a month on OKC, created my profile using tips in these threads. And so far I've got seriously few responses (only about 10%).

Here are some stats -
Total messages sent out: 110
Visits: Around 35
Responses: 12

Princess opener: 35 sent, 8 visits, 0 responses
"Hey, I just checked out your profile.. (random question)": 50 sent, 20 visits, 6 responses

I have been able to convert 6 out of the 12 responses into a #close, and got 1 date. So once a convo starts I'm not bad, I guess. But the initial response rate is awful. And this when I am mostly messaging "replies frequently" type of girls.

What am I doing wrong? Is it the opener or the profile? Or just the fact that I'm Indian? I would really, really appreciate if you could take a look at it and give me some tips.

yeah i found that my canned openers don't typically work.

I f-closed a girl once by commenting on her attractiveness (was really more like a HB5) but for actual good looking girls they tend to ignore these.

Best response rate i get is by asking a simple question based on their profile. I'd say if they respond back my success rate is 50% for getting them on a date. Of those 50% i'll K-close or better on the date.

I've found for roughly every 10 girls i message, i'll hear back from 4. Of those i'll set up a date with 2 and close on one girl. What success rate have you other guys had?

OkC is a fun place for meeting, especially because of public questions that can learn you a lot about someone's interests. I met interesting people there, and from my experience I know that a high match% is quite significant for most people. Do not contact less than 90% if you expect an answer.

You have two options :
- send tons of basic messages with a very low reply rate
- send nice crafted messages with a low reply rate
The second option is mine, but its the less efficient because it takes some time for write a good message that is personnal, ie related to some comments in questions or some profile stuff (not basic fluf here). You can also nearly-spam, but you need to do it in a heavily populated area then. And it makes you look needy, in my opinion.

Don't take it too seriously

You need a new photo, you look as if you have just got out of bed!

All good answers here. My two cents here is have great pictures of yourself all swagged up and you can be out on the town with friends just as long as you make it clear which ones you. I added a new picture the other day all Robinson Cruseo like and my profile hits improved a lot. Back it up with a solid profile. Don't reveal too much about yourself like you're trying to qualify yourself to anyone. If anything just make it seem like you don't take the whole thing very seriously at all. I put a bunch of one liners in there like for the question 'On a typical Friday night I am...' I put 'Rescuing a woman from a burning building, shaking hands with the mayor, researching a cure for cancer and teaching dogs how to deal cards.' The other day an 8 shot me this message 'How easy is it for you to teach dogs how to deal cards?' Played right into it. Just leave stuff that is fun they can easily comment on. Portray yourself as someone who is fun, free spirited, care free but just too busy and on the go to meet people, which is why you're on there. Avoid demonstrating neediness just like you would when you're at the club. In my messages I've given up on commenting on their profile. 99% of the time I took to review their profile, find something I could relate too, and then comment on it I found I got very few to no response back. Unless it's something light. For example, there were two profiles I've read where they mentioned they like whiskey. So I just commented in my message 'Jack Daniels or Jameson?' Both times I got a response, which is what you want. Other times I just use the Strawberries opener (I think that is what it's called?), which I found on the forums somewhere. It's just a simple opinion opener, 'Hi _____! How are you? Honest question, you can only have one answer, no cheating! M&Ms, Skittles or Strawberries?' and my replies have gone up at least 60%. It's a fun question and engages the convo, but, as they said in the post, it's just meant to get a response. Once you get one then move on and start asking them about themselves. Again this is just my two cents. I still have a long way to go myself online but it's helped. Great pics and a solid profile are key. Hope this helps somewhat.

Actually another good tip is to do all your messaging from the OKC app on your smart phone. It leaves a little stamp at the end of the message saying "Sent from the OkCuipid app." Personally I think it looks less despirate for a response since she's probably thinking you're out and about and not sitting at home on your laptop surfing for women, which is especially important on when messaging on weekends. Plus, if you're like me and never really know how to respond to something right away, it gives you more time to reply.
