To nighcrawler:

The BEST book I recommend is Rules of the Game by Your Favorite Author, Neil Strauss, because it not only points in the correct direction involving game...it also contains several book reviews! Book reviews that give the books you'll want to read!

Yet my top purchases for personal development material are in my response to THE JACKAL.

Are there any good books on body language?
Get David D's first interview with Dr. Paul!! The BEST interview ever that talks about "Sending," AKA the BEST body language tip EVER!

An even BETTER idea is to get his book: "Get Your Send On."

Further Options to Explore Beyond This Are (And I would treat this as if you had a gun to your head and HAD to read them in this order):

1. Tony Robbin's #1 Personal Development program, Personal Power II (there's the OVERALL one for EVERYTHING!!! It's awesome...and will definitely help with body language AND confidence...everything!)...consider The Ultimate Edge, too.
2. David D's course, Body Language...AWESOME pointers! It's amazing
3. Simple PU's Project Go subscription...simply model their body language!

MANY others (ALL of which I've read, and which you will, too at some point). But if I were you, I'd go through these first.

Jackal,

There is a guy named Paul Ekman who is an absolute master when it comes to nonverbal communication. Check out his stuff for sure.
YES!

(There's more in the P.S. than the actual reply...lol!)

It's the most frightening...but the most rewarding!

Follow through, man! It'll get more fun when you realize that all guys want is RESPECT.

Let's talk more about this if you want.

Your Friend,

~ Surrep

P.S. I just got in a fight with my brother, and he choked me out...BEST experience ever--not because of the bruise, but because I realized how unafraid of death I was.

Furthermore, while your focus must be on how much you can make these people feel cool and validated, knowing in the back of your mind that getting a beating is soooo far from the worst thing that can ever happen to you.

P.P.S. When you can afford martial arts (Krav Maga preferably!), something tells me you'd have no problem approaching sets with men under the pretext that you can end a situation or threat in the blink of an eye if the situation calls for it.

Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson

It's a short and simple book, not to mention old, but it was a best seller. When you're just starting out on the road to self-improvement (like I was when I read it), this book is a great start. It teaches you how to not get caught up on all the limiting negative stuff in your life and tells you how to develop a thought paradigm that is conducive to progress, acheivment, and most importantly, CHANGE.

@zlibby76

I second the Six Pillars of Self Esteem. Nathaniel Branden.

I'm reading it now, and its really really good. I'm probably going to read it a second time.

A new earth by eckhart tolle is an incredible read if you use common sense.

Basically tells you not to associate everything with this massive idea of yourself that you've got swilling about in your head and to be happy in the moment rather than getting all your feeling out of the environment and stimulation. He's slightly a new age woowoo crystal guy so if you ignore the slightly eccentric ideas about herbal remedies and a new world enlightenment etc it'll be a hugely beneficial read. Google 'pua tolle' or something and you'll get a similar gist.

I just posted this in another thread, so I'll just copy and paste it here...

Everyone on these forums should be reading everything they can about the Men's Movement. Here is a short list of Men's Movement and self-help materials that I would absolutely recommend for everyone here to read:

1. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover
2. "Iron John" by Robert Bly
3. "Wild At Heart" by John Eldredge
4. "Fire in the Belly" by Sam Keen
5. "Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins
6. "How to be a No Limit Person" by Wayne Dyer
7. "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie
8. "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover" by Moore & Gillette
9. "Unstoppable Confidence" by Kent Sayre
