| This was over a week ago. I kept going to write a field report but every time I did I'd lose my motivation. But here we go. Don't just lurk, give feedback!!
Things to Know:
-Seeing as people aren't giving feedback, I'm critiqing myself as I go. What I should have done will be in bold or italics.
-Also, my first set was interrupted, then I opened a second and third, and the first set reopened at another venue, read carefully so you don't get confused.
-Went out on town for a mate's birthday
-goal was to open 10 sets and close at least one
-I arrive at the venue and greet everyone. At that point there were like 4 guys and 3 girls (2 of which were taken).
-I get introduced to the single girl I hadn't met before then almost immediately everyone else goes to the bar, so it's just me and her (strangers) sitting at the table.
-AFC me would have sat in silence and made boring small talk--NOT ANYMORE!!
-I immediately went into my opener;
"I need your opinion on something *she is engaged straight away* Tattoos on girls, yes or no?"
"Ew no!"
"The reason I'm asking is because my cousin is 18 has been dating this guy for a month. She wants to get his name tattooed on her wrist! Everyone is telling her not to but it's making her want to do it more; what should I tell her?"
-We had a bit of back and forth for a while about it; I can't really remember what she said.
-SOMEHOW I transition smoothly into the cube DHV. I wish I could remember exactly how I did it; I guess I was in the moment. Maybe we discussed our interests and I said something like psychology or people reading.
-I ran the cube, she loved it. She gave it an 8/10 accuracy.
-It was about this time she said "I'll be right back" and got up to go do something. Our friends still weren't back sitting with us, so I was left by myself with the table.
-F*ck that. I wasn't going to wait around like a chump, so I stood up to find my friends.
(this continues later, this girl appears in set 2 as well)
Set Number Two
-as soon as I stood up 2 moderately attractive girls took our table (seats were scarce by this point)
-I turned to them and opened:
"I was up for 2 seconds and you took our table!" (smiling, non-theatening)
"Oh were you guys still using them? (refering to my friends and I)
"Nah, it's okay, we're leaving in about five minutes anyway" (False time constraint... well, it was a real time constraint. We were going to leave soon.)
-I continued the conversation by then using a canned opener.
-"I need your opinion on something (I sit next to them and work in a FTC), do you think kissing is cheating?"
-When I sat down I felt like she as a bit unsure about me; it wasn't like she was uncomfortable, just cautious. When I sensed that I used another FTC vocally and with my body.
-We discussed kissingcheating briefly, then I asked "Are you guys best friends?"
"Yeah.."
"I can tell, you have the same facial expressions *they look at each other* There, you did it again." *They laugh pretty hard then look back at me smiling.
-By that point I think I stopped them thinking I was some guy hitting on them, I showed some value, made them laugh and they were interested (a little).
-I continued; "You guys should be do the best friends test."
"I'm not going to kiss you.." said one of them.
I gave her a funny look and said "I'm not hitting on you..."
****This is something I could have done differently. I said I wasn't hitting on her, as if I was defending myself. A much better response would have been "Don't worry, you're not my type" This would have made her question why not, would have been a disqualifier and possibly started making her qualify herself to me. Lesson learnt.***
-I run the test on them, it works perfectly. They're laughing pretty hard and stuff.
-By that point I actually had to go as my friends were leaving. But I felt they wanted me to stay; and if my friends weren't leaving I could have stayed with the girls. They were hooked. But I said it was nice meeting them and left.
-As I got up and left they still had huge smiles, they said "Thanks so much for that!"
***I'm not sure about that response. I don't want to be thanked as if I'm a performer, but I think my quick exit made it seem that way. If I was able to stay longer perhaps I wouldn't have given off that vibe. But the main thing is that they really enjoyed it and I had them hooked. Practise.***
-at a point during the conversation the girl from the first set returned and touched my shoulder. I looked up and she sort of gave my a friendly "What the f*ck" smile as I was chatting these girls up. She walked straight on by and probably gave me some social proof. Haha!
The Third Approach
-we were at a new venue now, I was chilling with my friends when this beautiful dark girl came over. She was friends with my friend.
-they were talking and I was standing there awkwardly until eventually I cut them off and said "Hi, I'm SugarGlider. I was waiting to see how it would take for my friend to introduce us."
"Hey I'm 3rdgirl!"
"You have a C-shaped smile" I said with a grin.
"Uhh.. thanks? Haha"
Then I went into C's vs U's.
***I said she had a friendly C-shaped smile, if I could change things I would have said she had an unfriendly U-shaped smile as a neg. She was beautiful and I should have negged her***
-We continue the talk as a group; I bring up her shoes and say they're cool and that I've seen like 6 other girls wearing the same ones tonight
-She made growny/smiling kind of face and laughed, like she was disappointed; successful neg.
***I should have pushed more and tried isolating her. She was like a 8.5. Eventually she left though. Ah well, I got some practise in***
The Return of Girl Number One
-Eventually the girl from the first place came and joined us at the new venue (time distortion) and I sat with her and her friend (who I won over)
-I just sat with them for the rest of the night. It was great social proof for the bar, I was sitting with 2 girls making them laugh all night.
-I just ran every routine that I knew. It was total overkill but I wanted practice
-Eventually got her number, we've hang out a few times since. Got a kiss etc, but now trying to gently friend-zone her.
So there it is guys. Give me feedback!! Even if you don't know you're stuff, let me hear it. Even "You suck" or "Great job!" Anything! Don't lurk!
