I went to an event with some friends where there was a DJ and some bands. There was some dancing but nothing too intimate. There was tons of drunk old people and hormonal middle schoolers. There was a party that I didn't get an invite to, so all the people my age (16-17) were at that party except for a few friends. My group I met with only had a few attractive girls, but one is dating my friend and one is by buddy's ex. I was so pumped when I got there. I knew it would be like this, but I could practice my dancing. I have a strange problem with dancing. I can't "feel the rhythm and let the music take control" unless it is grinding. For some reason, rhythm is like a foreign language to me, unless it speaks to me in a sexual manner.... or if I'm drunk. Obviously drinking is not the answer because I'm 16 in the USA. (All of my drinking experiences have been in Europe, where its legal.) How can I solve this issue? Have any of you guys struggled with the same problem in the past?

Yes! When I was 16/17 I went to a summer camp where there was a dj and dancing. I tried dancing and my mates laughed in my face for it. I tried again and eventually people laughed at me and asked what was I doing. I realized I was not one of the people who could dance, ever, because I did not have rythm. Fast forward 8 years and I am 24 years old and I walk by a crowd of old people dancing folk music in a circle outside. I join in. After two hours of dancing with them in a circle, I decide dancing feels good and I want to try it again because there is a chance I might be able to dance barely well enough to fit in with the rest of the dancers and not stand out too much. I kept going to these dances and also whenever there was a dj and music, I would tap my foot every time i heard a specific sound for example a loud drum beat or a saxophone. I also kept shifting my weight from one foot to another, just rocking back and forth and listening to the music. After a few months, I started feeling the music and let it overtake me and it turned out I was a talented dancer all along. I can solo dance anywhere I go now and women notice it and everyone says I am a good dancer. so... just put on a Michael Jackson song and rock back forth on your feet for two hours a day. After two months you will start to feel the beat. This is the advice I got at a waltz dance from a 50 year old guy who said he was stiff as a telephone pole and was not dancing with music until an older dance instructor came up to him, gave him a CD, and told him to put it on in his apartment and just rock back and forth on his feet listening to the music for an hour or two every day..

If I'm in a crowded club I usually look around and mimic the style of a guy that seems to know what he's doing. There's tutorials on youtube for absolute beginnners, at least get the two step down packed.

Drinking is false confidence watch my youtube videos and do not do the dances suggested here, when you dance you want to turn women on, that is the goal, watch my stuff, and quit drinking...
