Is it just me or do girls who are like 9's and 10's always take much longer to reply on facebook? I get IOI's from them when I'm with them in person, but when I talk to them online they're not very responsive. This one girl I'm talking to was getting on with me really well last night, showing IOI's and had a good conversation with me, now I'm talking to her on facebook and while she gives long replies she often takes a really long time to reply. Maybe she's just busy or not in the mood, but I've seen it happen with other girls too. Anyone else experience this?

Oh, and how do you draw them out and get them to reply more quickly? If I get her number I think I'll get better responses, but I'm not sure how to ask for it, it doesn't feel right to just say "What's your number?" without providing a contextual reason for why I'm asking for it.

to get her number say this.....I'm almost never at home so I don't get to check my FB all the time. give me your number its easier for you to get a hold of me.

Thanks for the reply, I had a feeling that maybe she just was thinking about what to say since, like me, she wants to make a good impression. I'll not bother talking to her again for a little while.

I'm not sure about that number close though; her giving me her number makes it easy for me to get hold of her, not the other way around. I could just be half way through a good conversation with her and say "I have to go out now, give me your number and I'll text you instead"

Post the messages, it's very hard to tell based on what you wrote.

How are you getting to Facebook to begin with? Are you meeting in person then asking for a Facebook profile? Why not just ask for the number then?

One trick I pull out when I get stuck in this situation is to start treating these other mediums like texting, so if I'm talking to a girl via email, facebook, OKcupid whatever, I'll respond as if I were texting. So short messages, responding within 10 minutes, always a hook she can jump to.

They wont make a sense since we're talking about the party we were at the other night and about people who we know. Generally the messages are like 2 - 3 sentences long.
I had her on facebook before I met her - we have a lot of mutual friends - but never really spoke to her. I met her at a party and right when I was about to go for the number close my friend sat down and I kinda fucked it up. I wrote about it in a thread here: fu-number-close-vt143468.html

Hm, usually I use facebook the same way people use MSN; as an instant messenger. We generally send pretty long messages to each other, and that's what usually happens when I first start talking to someone, but over time that'll break down to smaller messages. To have a good conversation there's usually little time between messages so it flows like a normal conversation would. I'll try doing what you said and just waiting a while before replying. I'm kinda doing that anyway though - replying straight away while she takes a while would might me seem needy - so I usually just wait the same amount of time she took to reply before I do.



Edit: I was thinking a good opener next time I talk to her would be to just message saying "Cats or dogs?" since it removes the auto-pilot response and could lead to a good conversation rather than something like:
"hi"
"hi"
"you okay?"
"Yeah, you?"
Which is obviously really fucking boring

dude cut the crap and just be straight forward dont message her too long on fb or text it gets boring.

ask for her number and text for a week at max and then call her if she doesnt pick up leave a message a short one with something funny in it so she can respond.

and make plans to hang out If you stay too long on the text game she will put you in the friend zone. you always have to escalate and get more involved .... If you hide behind a phone or computer she will know you dont have the balls but if you call you will get things done!

Yeah I really don't like trying to game girls online. I'm going to leeds music festival in a couple of days, so I wont be talking to her. She agreed to come to mine next time I have people over for drinks, so I might just wait until then to talk to her and I'll number-close her in person.
