Bros,
Here is the thing. You know that one awesome way to get together with a girl is by singing smoothly at her hears, or to be good at a kareoke

The problem is that I dont sing well, is just weird, and have never sing much or nothing either.
Do you guys have any tips on how to train your voice, to sing better, voice tonality without music lessons?

Tight hug

Slyz

Having a piano or using one of those virtual keyboards online and match every tone. Go up and down the scale and mimic the sound. First learn to be in key and master every note.

What TrippAdvice said sounds like a good start.

Alternatively you could find something else a girl likes that doesnt take as much time to learn.

Singing is something you have to work on if you are not a natural. Classical training is the best method so get a singing coach and learn. If you don't have the money to get a coach then my best advice is to do mimic exercises.

Get a copy of "The Sound of Music" (I like the Julie Andrews version but any copy of the play will do) and head over to "Do-Re-Mi". The easy progression of the song allows you to get into key without much trouble. The best part is that it is a song that teaches you how to sing while singing. Practice, practice, practice until you get comfortable with the act of singing. Don't worry if you don't sing in key just yet. You will learn key in time. Try whistling the tune and match it to the song. If you hear discord (you can make out slight variations in your whistle against the song) you can try to correct it. Get used to this one song. Don't practice on any other song till you get it down. There is no rush.

When you have done that and get to the part where you are comfortable singing in a key that is natural to your voice get a book on music theory. This while learning Do-Re-Mi will help you understand what is going on when you hear the notes.

This will not make you perfect overnight. Don't think of it as study. Think of it as fun. You are playing a game of match the notes. Learn to sing clearly and accurately first and then you will learn the rest. Also when you try to sing to a girl make sure it is not acapella. Sing to music. If you are just slightly off key the music can mask it enough to fake it.

Never sing drunk. You will think your are the shit, but you will only sound like shit. Go into a Karaoke bar at happy hour and you will know why.

Always sing from the stomach. There is a muscle called the diaphragm. It is what brings air into your lungs and forces it out. When doing breathing exercises you breathe into your stomach. When you sing it all comes from the same place. Do breathing exercises. Do them often. Get into the habit of projecting your voice. It also help with being heard in a loud night club. I can sing in a karaoke bar without the microphone. It is always fun to see if you can do it. Make the lout drunks in the back hear you! Don't yell though. Shouting is not good for keeping the note. Project.

That is all I got for ya. Try it but remember, noting beats a singing coach. Get a good one and practice, practice, practice.

This is what I do with friends who want to learn how to sing. My pedigree is that I was in chorus all through elementary, middle and high school. I also was a member of the Musical Theater club in college. I was also a Music Theory minor in college.

A good music theory book is: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory, 2nd Edition

Youtube has the song.
