Make up some funny openers and experiment with them. The more crazy they are the more fun it will be. I give you an example. My native language is not english and when I was practising approach back in the days I told my friend: "Watch this" and I walked up to 2 HBs and asked if they spoke english(they did) then I presented myself as a tourist looking for some really good men's wear shop. They were surprisingly fascinated and they even agreed to help me to choose some dresses. I was teasing them with all kinds of things and all 3 of us really had a great time. At the end I told them: "Thank you, it was a pleasure really." But I said that in my native language(hungarian). That look on their face... My friend was laying on a bench out of laughter. He then proceeded to go up to a girl and say "Hey, I find you absolutely gorgous and I'd like to get to know you. What's three things I should know about you?" The babe spotted me observing and then accused him that it's some kind of bet that he just walked over. And then what happened? Yeah... we laughed hard. lol.
It's a lot of fun and it really gives a good state if you're concentrating on the fun part, and the best thing about it that you're learning things in the meantime. Most importantly you're learning that approach is not a big deal. Have fun!
