1lb is around a deficit of 3500 calories. So 20lbs is going to be around 70,000 calories.
20lbs is also a lot to lose, so there isn't going to be any really quick way to do it.

What you need to do is get onto an online daily caloric needs calculator - you'll fill in things like your height, weight, activity levels etc. Then you'll be able to find out roughly how many calories you need a day to remain at your current weight (bear in mind these things aren't always particularly accurate, but unless you're taking the weight loss to almost competition/model levels of seriousness then it doesn't matter too much if they're a little bit out).

So if, for instance, it tells you that you need to eat 2600 calories a day to remain at your current weight, then you can adjust your diet accordingly. So if you want to lose the weight in 60 days, then you've got 70,000 calories to lose in that time, which comes to cutting around 1160 calories a day. So subtract that from your maintenance intake and you end up needing to consume around 1440 calories a day for 60 days to lose 20lbs. One note of caution - you don't really want to go below 1000 calories a day. And, of course, this is the amount you need to have consumed overall in the day. If you go for a run and burn off 500 calories, then you could eat 1940, and still end up having only taken in 1440, if you get me.

To lose weight like this, the most important thing is calorie counting. You can do all the exercise you want, but if you're still eating too much, you're not going to be losing a lot. Exercise helps you reach your cut gains, of course - and things like weights will help build muscle as well to improve your body as the pounds come off - but primarily you want to be focussing on watching your calories closely for the time it takes to lose the 20lbs.

^ what he said.

Eat less = lose weight. i have read literature that suggests that catecolamide production is higher during fasting, 16 hour fasts will work. (go to sleep=8 hours, then dont eat for another 8)
Fasted training is an option, not one i would choose, so is glycogen (carb) depleted training

dont buy pills and potions to lose weight the no. one skill is EATING LESS in a given day. hire a personal trainer, if you cant afford much just do a couple of sessions with them

"nutrient timing is nowhere near as important...as the number of macros you eat in a day"

The technique is one? What are you talking about!!

No you can't lose fat fast but thats not what I'm saying, read my response!

Intermittent fasting is a diet technique, whereby the natural 8 hour fast every person goes through when they sleep is followed by another x number of hours of non-feeding depending on your approach. The berkhan 16 hour fast is the one I've had most success with.

Read leangains.com for a much more comprehensive guide to fasting

measure out how many calories is your maintenance calories. (theres websites to find out how)

go at least 500 calories below that everyday.

eat 5-6 times a day, spaced out evenly (ex. 7AM, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10PM)

balance your carbs, proteins, fats. i like cutting carbs, like rice, pasta, wheat bread, and shit like that. if you get carbs, try to get em in the morning, like SPAM n shit.

exercise isnt mandatory. thats the point of a diet. but youd be a FOOL not to exercise. do like 30 mins of walking, jogging, elliptical, something to get your heart going.

Here's how I changed my life this summer. I had a goal to put on 10-15 lbs muscle mass so I started keeping a food log to track my current habits and then start changing them. I tracked Food, Servings (I actually measured out everything I ate), Protein, Fats, Carbs, and Calories. I had goal numbers I wanted to hit for each.

Later I decided that cutting first before bulking was my best approach. I have since lost 5lbs in two weeks or so.

I currently bike 10 miles/day commuting to a class I have at a nearby university (I bike as fast as I can to cut my commute time--down 15 minutes from day one on July 2nd), eat a high-protein, low-fat, low-carb diet. No carbs after 8:00 pm. I cut out eating crap food like pizza and burgers except for one cheating meal/week and in moderation. I drink plenty of water, work out 2-3 times a week using the 12-week Cut The Fat program on bodybuilding.com (not just for gym rats), and STAY ACTIVE. Strength gains are up, weight is slowly decreasing, and I have not looked or felt better!

Alternatively, my buddy has lost 40 lbs since January doing the Weight Watchers point system. But it requires a lot of discipline. Heck, losing weight and getting in better shape requires a lot of discipline. I know you're up for the task.

Best of luck!

Losing 20lbs of fat in a short amount of time is not well advised. However what you should do.

Start a workout program.
Morning Weight lifting
Evening-Cardio

Monday-Squat,Deadlift,Calf Raises, and Hamstring Curls
Wensday-Military Press, Bench Press, Incline Press, and Tricep extension
Friday- Pull Ups, Barbell Rows, Bicep Curls, and Rear Delt Flyes

Like others have said find your calorie maintance, and subtract. Make sure you get plenty of protien 1g per lb of body weight.

PS. to chime in on the argument, Intermittent Fasting is great I made a thread on it I do a 20 hr fast with a 4 hr feeding time.Helps with weight loss.

Would help a great deal if you learnt how to count calories.
The best and fastest way of losing weight is coming up with a good diet and doing cardio. Weight lifting will help too if you're looking to keep as much muscle mass as possible.

Hi liltookie,
To lose weight break your meals in 5/6 small meals including snacks and prefer raw food over processed food. Increase your water intake, drink green tea and avoid flavored juices, beverages and diet soda. Exercise is must to lose weight as it burn calories and boost your metabolism so exercise daily.
