So moved into this apmt a few weeks back and its a quite apartment - living with several others who never seem to come out which gives the impression the house is empty.

Anyways next door to mine is this girl who ive spoken with on 2 occasions since the past 3 weeks...ive only seen her 3 times. She is a social person from my observation when I spoke with her - except she just does not come out of her room much.

Any ideas on how I could possible open for a conversation with this one besides just randomly knocking on the door?

Just knocking on the door would be fine, so long as you are a not giving out some creepy vibe (i know that doesn't help too much). If it helps use an excuse such as do you own a tin opener? or asking questions about the landlord etc. then transition to something to get her out the room (or you in, which would be harder), offering her a drink in the kitchen for a chat.

Keep it simple and causal, then worry about escalation. Reasons for doing things can make it easier on the both of you, e.g. the reason for having a drink with you in the kitchen is to discuss house stuff or simply to get to know each other a bit better.
