To begin with, smartness is usually derived from genetics but intelligence on the other hand is usually regarded as something that is due to one's background and environment.

I am an average engineering student. Average speed of thought, like 99% of you.
There are ways to quicken it. I am capable of complex thinking but I am rather slow at it.

Ways to speeding thoughts, developing intelligence:
-Reading (especially when you are young it is an incredible booster of intelligence);
-Learning a new language;
-Brushing your teeth with different hand (the unusual one);
-Trying to write with your left hand if you are a righty (vice-versa);
-Thinking about paradoxes (such as the hanging paradox or the crocodile one)
-Throw away your calculator (use your head to solve problems)
[Pablo Hernandez contribution]
-Listen to all types of music. Have an eclectic taste. Everything from classical to jazz to heavy metal. Learn to appreciate it for what it is.
-Meditation helps keep the mind free of clutter.
-Writing. Writing short storys, journals, poetry. Anything helps. Buy a theasurs and a dictionary.
-Learn an unusally skill. Metal working, oil painting, playing the violin. Something that takes good hand-eye coordination and a certain level of mental ability.
-Cook your own meals every day, lunch and dinner for two weeks and make every meal different. Include deserts.
-Workout for an hour 4 times a week. Its good for the body and the mind in equal measures.
-Read. Read like its your destiny. Read all types of books. The classics should be read by everyone.

Ways to develop memory:
-Try to remember stuff ( I mean really try to remember, not just start looking for it)
-Desarrolla una mente prodigiosa - Ramón Campayo (read this book) [[[[
this book has two interesting things that actually work:
::: memory mapping, ramon explains how to remember thousands of things using lists
::: quick reading, it shows a way to speed up your reading in an incredible way]]]]

Quick thinking, smartness and intelligence is definitely a booster of confidence higher value and everything else.

If you have anything on how to develop our brains go ahead! ;)

Meditation helps keep the mind free of clutter. Its something not enough people (including myself) do often.

Writing. Writing short storys, journals, poetry. Anything helps. Buy a theasurs and a dictionary. Its shocking how few people actually own them.

Learn an unusally skill. Metal working, oil painting, playing the violin. Something that takes good hand-eye coordination and a certain level of mental ability.

Listern to all types of music. Have an eclectic taste. Everything from classical to jazz to heavy metal. Learn to appreciate it for what it is.

I too listen to everything from classical to dubstep and indie, jazz to kuduro and metal. I only discard teen pop like justin b.

Your contribution is rather interesting.
-Writing short stories, or anything at all.
-Doing your own meals, trying to diverse as much as possible.
-Working out 4 times a week.
-Listenning to all kinds of music
-Learn unusual skill such has metal working oil painting, playing an instrument.

Thanks Pablo Hernandez

Ive tried all types of meditation from the far out group chanting to just closing my eyes and observing my thoughts.

It depends on how I feel at the time but some styles are easier than others for me. Square breathing (breath in 4 seconds, hold 4, out 4, hold 4, in 4 etc ) is very helpfull if your mind is racing. Concentrating on your breathing is important. Try to just observe your thoughts when they come into your head, dont judge them or think that about them, just accept that they are there.

Do a yoga class. A large part of yoga is meditation. Yoga will help you in many ways and some of the yoga meditation types are the easiest for me. Also Echartt Tolle's book 'The power of Now' is very good for helping you observe your thoughts.

This is more of a spiritual way of developing your thinking but here goes:
Ask yourself:
Why do I feel this?
What do I feel right now?
How can I fix this (bad) feeling?
How could I turn this negative into a positive?

NEVER DISCARD BAD FEELINGS, FIX THEM ASAP.
Examples of bad feelings would be, tiredness (fake, like at mornings), fears and overally anything that makes you feel bad about yourself or stops you from doing something.

I never thought about the brushing my teeth with my opposite hand.
I play an instrument so I guess that counts.
Speed reading seems like the skill goes away quickly.
Alright yeah I get to contribute to the community some what.

For better mental focus try cocounut oil.Yup cocounut oil,water,milk anything.

Not only is it really good for you but it gives you the healthy fats that the medical industry denied for so long(polysaturated fats).
It breaks down in your system in a benifical way.

After a couple of weeks it drain some mucus out of me also help with mental energy/physical.Plus,I used it for good breath.

Also stating a short story is helpful on your feet the thing is you must not hesitate and state it out loud!Very important.
