There are all sorts of ways to word what you're trying to say. "So, is there more to you than just a pretty face?" "Are you the type of person I should get to know?" Make it come from your personality.
If they say something like "I don't know," it's a good opportunity to neg them on not being an interesting person and comment on it being weird they'd have nothing to talk about. After that, you can then of course bring up your own topic, DHV, and then take it from there.
