How do some of you pull off delivering the same canned openers, routines, etcetera, without feeling cheesy?

You practice and get use to it to the point it's yours its internalized. At first it will feel canned and not natural. The more you do it the less you think about it. Practice if you can with a wing or a friend you trust. If not practice in the field and calibrate.

I use canned openers still but I'm slowly moving away from it. They work really well you just have to say it with confidence.

I like to think of them as training wheels on a bike. Sometimes you need them to get the hang of it. Sometimes you just hop on without any and ride away. Do whatever is gonna give you better results to start off and hopefully if you need to start with canned stuff, you can move away from it in time, like J Smooth says.

If you need to do canned stuff, tweak it to make it sound more like your personality. If the way it is phrased doesn't fit how you talk, then change it around a bit, just don't mess with any words that aren't filler words, because it could change how the story gets recieved.

If you can do it without canned stuff, great. Personally I have yet to use a pre-packaged opener or routine from a guru and I hope to keep it that way, because it doesn't feel natural enough and I feel like I'm ruining rapport. That doesn't mean I don't use some of their lines mixed into my conversations. I love a well placed "this is why we would never work out" and a few others, but just because sometimes that's exactly what I want to say, so then it is natural and why would I avoid saying it, just because someone else said it before me.

I agree with Rye, im new to this (Been about a month and a half now) and im just getting out of canned openers. Its best to have a default opener, just in case you cant think of anything to use.

As far as routiens and the games, be VERY careful with ESP and 5 questions, these work AWESOME but I would say about half the time i have tried to use them the girls know that u r a PUA since they have heard it a thousand times. This is mostly just these 2, just pick a game that isnt talked about that much and you should have good results.

I think, create, modify and search for hours a day to find good shit to use...

Are canned better than the simple "Hi what's your name?" It's hard for me to open with a canned and not sound like I'm reading from a script vs a "Hi" which just sounds natural.

thats the idea behind working on it . . . you have to make it sound natural "Hi whats your name" is a pretty canned opener dont change the way you say that from any of your other canned stuff

I've never used canned material.
