I was just about to play the "we're too much alike routine" when she sent a message asking to meet up so my message arrived after hers.

Have I messed up here? She hasn't responded yet so should I just leave it, if so for how long?

Her:

I should mention that I am not back in xxxxx until 5 May. It would be great to meet you once I'm back if you are interested.

Me:

Oh my! We're too much alike, I dont think we would get along.

Her:

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. But best of luck with everything.

Me:

Unless we meet we'll never know though :) I think a complex individual like yourself would be most engaging, so why not.

I think this one is blown. Every failure you encounter is always your fault but at the same time a learning experience. So learn and move on. Nice try though. :D

wtf.

Its online why are you running routines, its like a bank robbery you need to flee the scene fast. You had her saying she would meet up with you, thats when you go alright give me your number so we can meet up then and run away from the computer before you do something wrong. Instead you are trying to build comfort or something. In and out fast, every extra message you send increases the chance she will flake out on you.

"Quit while your ahead"

While harsh. He's right. But it sounds like it was somewhat of an accident. Just move on. Unfortunately with online it is a lot harder to make a "saving throw".

i got a response about an hour later

here:

hmmm...:)

so maybe all is not lost.

Good advice given, I definitely understand now that messaging should be as brief as possible.
