While your opening doesn't have to include you turning water into wine, there should be something 'unique' about it. (Doesn't have to be verbally)
Situational is always good- as long as you follow it up by a minor statement of intent like "Anyway, I saw you walking here and I wanted to meet you.". If you want to truly canned stuff, there's about a thousand books that are sure to have something you like.
Also- go into stores, when they're outside they're generally going somewhere, often with an irrational haste that might be hard to deal with- in a store the 'taking my time' and many doubts of whether a or b is right for her take over and the time restrictions play less of a role.
That said, when you do approach outside -always- use an FTC (false-time-constraint). 30 seconds in you can always go with them somewhere.
