My girlfriend and I had been going out for a while but knew the end was in sight as she was leaving the country for 5 months.
Shortly before going I discovered she made out with a work friend at a Christmas party.
I know exactly how this guy did it as well, classic boyfriend destroying stuff; he made insinuation at work, kinoed at the party and with the combination of alcohol, she crumbled.
Now this is a girl I have known for 5 years, and I thought she would be the last person to do a thing like this, which brings me to my question:

What counters are there to boyfriend destroying?

I'm am rather experienced in the field, I've been sarging for almost 2 years now and the GF in question was picked up by merging 3 sets together at a party and plenty of game on the side. I'm far from an AFC but I don't know how I can prevent this in the future if I'm not there to AMOG the tool.

my theory here is to pre-empt the situation. At the appropriate time, which is a time when there is no threat at all, tell her a story about a friend who's girlfriend cheated on him. make sure the story ends with him on the morale and social high ground and her being humilated and rejected by her social peers.

Then when the temptaion is put in front of her she'll think back to what you talked about and have negitive physcology associated to the potential events and will take the easy option and opt out so as not to face the risk of humilation.

I am a bit confused because you have said that you knew the relationship was going to end but on the other hand you are looking for a tactic to win her back after she made out with another guy?

The bottom line should be that you are an alpha male who can get other women and you must explain to her that her behavior was totally unacceptable. If she is genuinely apologetic and wants to maintain a relationship with you then it is up to you whether you want to give her one last chance. You can not prevent these things from happening when you are not around, besides being the great boyfriend that she really desires.

You act like you are now in competition with this guy when the situation seems to be that she made a drunken mistake. Maybe I need more clarification on the situation to make a valid point.

Yes, you misunderstood me.
I am no longer in a relationship with her, nor am I trying to win her back, it was something I found out after we had finished. I was curious on how boyfriend destroying techniques can be pre-empted or defused for future reference.

I should also mention that I need no affimation of my ability to attract other women- I have no trouble with that. This was simply an area in which I was not field tested, so to speak.
