JUNGLE NEWS

Whole family found dead after starving to death. They can't say how it happened but their facial expressions suggest they were deep in thought when they died. Police are not treating their deaths as suspicious.

Kill the monkey that is up to the boy "you".
Here's another smart kid who didn't read the whole thread before coming up with something that has been mentioned and rejected at least 5 times.

Probably wrong but.
There's either two ways he can go about this. He can either act on his own accord and ignore what the Monkey has told him.
Or his ego can kick in and because he doesn't want to be manipulated by the monkey he would end up killing him and thus killing his mother which represent's his feminine side and everything that comes with that (compassion etc).

Well i think the point is in using your mind to overcome any problem. The solution will come when you stop caring about the result, when you get the feeling you don't really need to hear the ,,real'' answer, since the answer is unique for each person.

Point is there is no answer but the goal is to overcome frustration over something as simple as this story. When you do that, you will ,,solve'' it. :)

Thats true, except when I posted this I had very specific things I had in my mind for "answers". Mine isn't better than anyone else's yet at the samepoint I was viewing this thread (and the other story threads) as a "piggy" back for people interersted.

Ok ,i must admit i just read all the other posts and didn't really bother to think much about this story itself... so if there is an answer which is formed trough: 1)Take a shot
2) Understand
3)Realize
4)Open your own guru shop by taking action and voila!

and you got the wisdom to fight any opponent in your life ,mostly yourself, by taking action over fluffy talk.

First...don't hold your breathe. 2nd; if you want a step by step way to meditate look into the thread: Core values of a Man- its in this section of the forum somewhere. 3rd, its not a koan..its a narrative.

Life is a koan. Once you come to a 'realization', there is no difference between one 'narrative' from another. This is a basic, first level koan. If you realize/understand this, you will understand all basic, first level koans. This is a Zen lesson:

1. You are you, I am me.
2. You are me, I am you.
3. You are you, I am me.

1. Is an understanding that I am a separate entity from the World around me. If you've read this thread, you will realize that nearly everybody is stuck here. There is a separation of the Monkey from the boy. The boy is not you, you are not the monkey, and the father and mother will die someday anyways. Do what ever the fuck I want to do because hey, I AM ME!

2. Is an understanding we are one. The monkey is the boy. The boy is the monkey. If we can truly accept this, we will realize that the monkey can share the same passions and fears. This is love . . . this is respect. But some are also stuck here . . . Hey, your answer is as good as mine . . . whatever floats your boat works for me . . . peace!

3. Is an understanding that I am me, inside a World that I am a part of. You are an entity of your own but you understand that you have influence to the World around you, as it has an influence on you. With this in mind, you act accordingly.

Nothing. The story itself has little to do with meditation. You don't meditate to 'figure out' this little story. You meditate to come to a realization of yourself and the World you live in. Once you've achieved this, the answer comes to you, as will answers for other 'basic koans'.

When meditating, just meditate.

Is there actually a straight answer to this or is it just a mind fuck?

What i think it means is there's consequences to your actions so you may as well go for the one with the reward (monkey stew) instead of the consequense (your hungry cause no monkey stew)
