I know I have heard this discussed before but I wanted to see if anyone has had any success with using photographs online that were professionally shot. I am considering doing if it is worth the investment.

From my experience, using okcupid best face, those professional photograph is not ideal for guys. You appear as boring and try hard.

Ok, here's a little tip (you gonna thank me big time for this):

If you want to always appear at your best, no need for pro pictures... As the previous poster mentionned, it looks a bit try hard. You want your pictures to be quality and show you at your best, whilst remaining casual.

I'm not very photogenic, and it's very seldom I see a pic in which I like myself, so I've come up with the following technique to get pictures I'm happy with in any occasion:

1. get a good quality camera, small enough to carry around with you in any occasion, but that shoots quality (HD) video (personally, I like to use a gopro hero 2 ; I surf, climb and kayak, but I also like to use it for non action shots).
2. Don't shoot pictures ; shoot video...
3. Watch your video footage frame by frame, and pick the stills where you are at your best (and in the best company)
4. do a screen capture
5. paste it in paint or other image editing software, then crop the picture.
6. photoshop, or use GIMP for a free alternative, until you are pleased with the results.

As I said: I've had fantastic results with this with a gopro.

I would advise against getting professional photo's done. It's a sign of desperation, coming from a male. You need to put more emphasis on the context of your profile. And your initiating messages.

As far as photo's it's best to have a photo of yourself with a straight face. Just keep it simple. Try to captivate her with your words.

Online dating is a numbers game, It's the worlds biggest meat market. Look at it as research and message them all. :)
