to walk away from any situation.
Walking away just loses any chance of something, where's the win in that? You don't gain anything, so why try to feel like a big man and burn someone? Instead, try to reframe and make a successful close. If you fail, well at least you learned something. By just walking away you learn nothing, you just don't bruise your ego, big deal, you can do that by staying home at night.

Me: You're right. I don't want you to prove yourself to me, because if you have that little self esteem, then you're gonna bore me to death. I just wanted to learn a few things about yourself to make this chat more interesting. If you'd rather sit in silence, then I understand though.
If she appologizes and complies, then great, if she doesn't say anything, then you can just sit there smiling politely at her and casually look around, emphasising that you are comfortable in your own skin and have no problem not having a talk with her, but you remain there, so that SHE is forced to decide if she wants to continue or not. Hey, if it doesn't work, then you figure out where you lost her and work on it next time.
