There's this girl at the mall...Ever heard a story start that way that didn't turn into one-itis?
Well, now you have. She's too young for me to consider an exclusive long term relationship with (she's 19), and she's also far too idealistic for my tastes. Oh, yes, be a plastic surgeon who only works on people who "need" it.

However...when my choices are "spend time with a cute chick" or "Don't spend time with a cute chick", well, I'll take the "spend time" one. Not that I plan to lead her on or anything.
The short story:
She works at a framing store, and I chatted her up a bit at the beginning of the month. No more than 5-10 minutes. A couple weeks later I was walking by the store she works in again and chatted with her for a good 20 minutes. I made quite a few mistakes, mostly because I was willing to listen to her and didn't really try to get anything in myself. I didn't bother pushing for any kind of close, since I know where she works, though I'm fairly sure I could have at least gotten a number.
My mistakes: I ignored most of her shit tests, and just acted like she hadn't said anything. I didn't escalate any kind of kino, though she was giving me IOI's. I turned around and said bye when I was leaving because she took a phone call, though she did smile and wave back. I didn't establish any kind of anchor, for next time.
Her shit tests were kind of qualifying me on the 2nd approach. "I'm not ready for a boyfriend" when I hadn't brought up relationships before that...and then "all my other boyfriends were jealous of me talking to other men...you would be too" (while playing with her hair)
I'm not sure how I'll approach her again, yet. I don't want to seem like I'm only going into the shop to talk with her, though, well, that's really the only reason. I'm thinking that I'll open it with "Hey, I have this picture here that I need to sell. If I gave it to you, could you frame it and sell it?" (The picture in question is a stick figure scene drawn on a post-it note while I was bored at work)
My other thought is to just walk by and pop in to say "hi" and then leave.
Any thoughts on improving my next approach?
