I've been working on a social simulator program.. it's basic, text based, and a big undertaking for someone like me who is a self taught programmer... It's being written in C++.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to test it, give ideas.. or possibly collaborate, I'll give you the source code and maybe you can teach me a thing or two in the process.

I can't do graphics, and so far I've written everything without using classes, which I'm sure makes a seasoned programmer want to do a facepalm.

I originally didn't want anyone to know because I wanted all the glory for myself, but something as beautiful as this shouldn't die because of my lack of programming ability or my ego.

source code and exe here:
ok, I can't post the link, but PM me if you want the link for the files.. or are interested in any form of contribution.

and as a side note... expect to be extremely underwhelmed.

I know PERL, C, and PHP. I can read C++, but not write it.

I can tell you this... PERL is a far better language for command line apps. What takes C++ hundreds of lines can possibly be done in PERL with dozens. If you're ever interested in porting to PERL, or making it web-based in PHP/MySQL shoot me a message. :)

Why are you making a social simulator? Basically, I don't think you CAN effectively create a program that simulates social interactions without having it as a live, multi-user program simply because of the near infinite number of factors that can effect social situations.
Also, as its a simulator you will have no tone, body language or other social cues that essentially make up a vast majority of human communication.

By all means, if you COULD do a really good simulation it would be brilliant. But if your aim is to create a program to learn from or "practise" social skills with then I would question how effective your program could ever be.

His program is probably to practice programming with slight ai logic.

I originally started writing it to be a supplement to learning Pickup... Things like body language, tonality and looks obviously won't be covered in this program.

Imagine that you were in the army and they gave you a program that would help you learn about the guns you will be shooting inside and out, you would learn the range, the firing rate, how to tear it down and re-build.. how to clean it and so on.
of course you wouldn't know from that one program how to effectively go into the battle field and do everything you would need to in order to survive.

I want the Social Simulator to be a place where you can understand the effects of actions.. Negs, different openers, why you might need an FTC.. etc

so in the field you don't have to worry as much about when and why you would do something just HOW. it will teach that A + B = C. when performed properly. It's a program for a beginner, not an advanced or even intermediate PUA.

I started doing it in C++ because that's all I know right now.. I started teaching it to myself awhile back because I figured someday it would be good for being able to write much larger programs.. From what I understand, I know that what I'm doing is like firing a 12 guage to kill a rat.
I would like to add graphics to it eventually, something simple to start off with.

The problem is, with learning about guns and rate of fire etc it is all FACTS. Nothing in PUA is a fact as such. Think of all the different way's you could tease a girl, some she will take with a laugh and others she will start crying or beat you senseless. It is all about timing, tone and body language. Not the mention her entire life of experience that form her reaction to any circumstance.

Take a neg for example, in your program the only way it would work is if it was more like a quiz; if you neg the girl will it 1)? 2)? 3)?. The second you get the program to give a response to your "neg" it would become crazy un-realistic due to the near infinite amount of responses possible. This lack of realism would become more and more apparent at each "step" of the interaction because you would be assuming so much from all the previous steps.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea as a whole is cool and would appeal to many people - but because it is scripted I do not feel it could ever be a teaching tool on any level.
