I have been reading on this post quite sometime. I feel this is what I need to do! I'm a very VERY energetic person. I enjoy life and have been there and done that for someone my age.. (20). But, I recently noticed my energy being sporadic through out the day. Effects my mood and the whole nine yards. So, I am positive that this is what I need. I did a somewhat pre-day session of the 10 days and I am starting the 10 day diet today. Will keep everyone updated on my progress/log

Age: 20
Height: 5'10
Body: Athletic/Slender

(Sunday, Jan 28, 2012) Pre-day: Woke up and ate Extra-virgin Coconut Oil (Cold-pressed) and lots of pees and drunk a lot of water. Met up with my cousin with my grandparents at a chinese restuarant. Ended up eating some seasame chicken. But, ate LOTS of broccoli. After we left, I start feeling tired and my energy already felt drained. We got back home.. and i felt so sleepy and tired. Still drinking lots of water. Ended up going out to a mexican place at night and got me a burrito. But out of this whole half-day diet, I had most of the symptoms on the FIRST day (Pre-day). It was.. terrible. Haha.

(Saturday, Jan 29, 2012) 1st day: ....

@KOmmando,
You can eat meat, but do not eat meat in restaurants. They are always season with many different sauces and it very hard for even the manager to know for certain the ingredients. To be 100% in restaurants, I just order a bowl of lettuce, onions, carrots. Keep in mind that you should only be this strict in the first month because you will be cured by then and if you eat anything that you affect you, you will immediately feel it. Kind of like if you quit smoking for a month and then you smoke one, it taste like shit.

Well, by the symptoms you describe I think you're not getting enough calories...if you're about to pass out (happened to me) it means you have to fuel to burn..
What are you eating exactly? Please list EVERYTHING

@ Hytporsche,
I'm glad you're going to try the diet, but ditch the cocunut oil. I know how "healthy" people say it is but a high-fat diet doesn't work
Chinese restaurant add some much shit to their foods. Especially soy sauce, which contains wheat. Like I told KOMMANDO, in restaurant you are only safe by eating raw salads with not but vegetables...no dressing, crutons, cheese.
I'm sure you ate the cooked broccoli which are cooked in so much fucking oil is ridiculos. So the cocunut oil + broccoli = a lot of fat = what made you tired...you are not going thru detox yet...you're getting worse lol
Burrito = WHEAT

Remember, for the 1st month eat nothing but vegetables and meat you buy at the supermarket, not restaurants...and COOK ALWAYS...as in don't buy proccess/pre made food or food that YOU didn't cook

Hold on, ditch the cocunut oil? I have definitely done my research on the coconut oil. Especially this one. Its Barleans Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cold-pressed). Not the one from the basic grocery store. Its basically a miracle oil to be honest from what I've read and seen. Check it out! Ohh.. trust me.. I felt like I was cheating when I ate the seasame chicken. Ha. But, the broccoli I ate was RAW by the way. I've been paying attention and of course the burrito.. yeah. I knew it was horrible. But thanks for the tips. Today is my first OFFICIAL day so far and I'm doing good. Will keep updating my progress.

P.S - So anything with soy is basically wheat?

You can make this diet super easy by chucking it all in the blender. So today I had apple juice, a handful of baby spinach, handful of green leaf salad, 1 carrot, 2 celery sticks, 4 broccoli florets, 4 baby tomatoes, 1 large orange (peeled), 2 scoops of Pea Protein powder, a splash of olive oil, all in the blender for 5 minutes. This makes two servings which I had in between my chicken or salmon meals. Much easier on the gut than my normal whey protein shakes.

OP, what's your view on whole foods, such as chickpeas, different types of beans, lentils, etc? I thinking along the lines of the Slow-Carb Diet.

Chesty, although there are some anti-nutrients in legumes, proper soaking or even better sprouting eliminates a good deal of them. It's not raw though, but among choices of cooked carbs, I'd say it's a good choice provided you prepare them properly. Protein content is also good, it's low fat, so the macros are ideal. Tim Ferris is big on legumes, have you heard of his 4 hour body?

@ Hytporsche,
The second of ingredient of soy sauce it's wheat : )

But I also try cocunut oil (THe organic super expensive one) and let me tell you that it's all bullshit...all the "benefits" MIGHT be short term but it's all marketing. Besides, it is NOT healthy eating FAT just like that, I mean that's fucking disgusting! haha
And like I said before: A diet high in fruit or FAT does NOT WORK....I know this by experience.

@ Chesty,
Lentils, beans, legumes, rice, etc are healthy...
However I personally find that being a raw vegan is the ultimate health level I have reached, and that excludes any beans/leguems cux I can't eat the raw. I could sprout them but I chose not to

Okay, thanks for the heads up. Ha. I'm still gonna have to disagree with you my friend. The so called "BENEFITS" from the certain brand coconut oil I'm talking is not stuff you buy from wal-mart that is processed. I totally agree that those are horrible for you. Did you know that coconut oil has been known to, not necessarily cure... but, suppress aids? I truly believe it's a miracle oil and they don't want us knowing about it. But that's just me. Barleans coconut oil only contains 14g of fat and besides, your not eating FAT! Your consuming something that does wonders and not just made of fat. Also, it literally has no taste and smells great :)

Never tried that diet, but from my experience whenever I try to lose a few pounds (I still eat bread and stuff) I always get very confident. It has nothing to do with how I look (obviously that can take a lot of time to change) but rather that you gain confidence from fact that you're working hard to improve yourself. So my guess is this is mostly psychological.

@Hytprosche,
I know exactly what cocunut oil you're talking about, I use to buy some 30$ Organic Cold Pressed Cocunut Oil you could only get in Supplement shops. It didn't work for me, but if it does work for you after the 10 trial, keep us posted!

@ needlz,
I use to think it was psychological too but I stopped believing that after I did the diet and felt incredible good, and then I was happy where I was so I started eaing pasta to increase my muscles and in less than a week I was feeling like shit for no reason...I was still working out and doing things that improve me to make me feel good, but I just counldn't feel good.

It's kind of like if you get drunk, you're gonna feel like the shit. No matter how psychological strong you are, you're going to get the effects. Same shit with food...but most people don't even think of it like that.. Food is medicine/drug

Hey lucky, I have another question. I have been desperately trying to do this diet for the full 10 days and random stuff keeps messing it up. I was in Washington DC and ate sushi, had soy sauce for the first two and saw it had gluten. I drink iced tea that my mom makes, i find out it might have been contaminated with gluten. I eat fries, chicken thats breaded (wasn't aware), gluten. Just to be clear if I base my diet off of eggs for breakfast, turkey meat with gluten free rolls for lunch, and potatoes, grilled chicken, with random veggies/fruits/food that's specifically gluten free (organic peanut butter, gluten free rolls) am I in the clear? Thanks again. Btw I have also completely eliminated every drink in my diet other than water to rule out another "scare" :)

@ brosb4HOES,
you should be clear but:
  • check the gluten free rolls are ALSO diary free
    Make sure the turkey meat it's from the deli section in the supermarker, as in you have to cook it to eat it cux most turkey meat come "ready to eat" with wheat in them
    Same with chicken

Nice nice. You will be getting a report back in 10 days, starting now I will have absolutely nothing other than "safe" foods.

Ok this is basically what I ate today.
Breakfast: Salad made out of these ingredients
-Tomatoe
-Cabbage
-Culantro (not cilantro)
-Onion

Lunch:
Same salad but with meat (it is a burger meat, not precooked, but it has some spices and some natural flavourings)

Dinner:
Salad made out of:
-Tomato
-Lettuce
-Onion
-Culantro
-Carrot
-Potato

And a lot of water with each meal.

@Commando,
Good first day. Two things:
I would eat a starchy vegetable for breakfast, preferably potato rather than carrot.
Also, I can't tell you whether the meat is safe or not. However, even if it did have traces of wheat/milk in natural flavorings, you should be fine...it's not much....and that's IF it has it

Day 01: Passed
