So I've been doing Brazilian Juijitsu, kickboxing and mma for a little over 3 years, have been fairly successful with it etc.. But I had some questions.
Now I've only ever fought in competitions for Brazilian Juijitsu, mainly due to being underage (until recently) and my parents disallowing me to fight in an MMA fight.
The issue I've had is both that I can only explain I'm a fighter if I say it's the same thing you see on UFC etc, sometimes I say with out the punching etc, but when ever i take a girl to a tournament or if she watches some video's they always think it's cool but a bit gay. I originally agree'd but after a while got used to it. The only way I've found for it not to be gay is for it to be a cage fight.
Does anyone have any tips on how to make BJJ not appear gay/as gay..?

Sitting on another man, half naked and sweaty, maybe even having your legs around him is bound to look gay. I tease my MMA friends with that ALL THE TIME. I dont know how attached you are to the sport but one alternative is to drop MMA and go over to Krav Maga where you take girls to Krav Maga Demo's instead. No way anyone will claim that MY sport is gay :D
That would be a good idea, but I live in a pretty small place with no Krav Maga gyms. MMA actually doesn't get teased much about being gay, only really the juijitsu but yeah I do agree with what you're saying. Other thing is my the guys I train with I've known for around 3 years and are good friends and one of the coaches treats me like his son..

BJJ is the nuts.

Any friend which takes the p*ss out of me I put them in a rear naked choke...and ask them again how gay it is.

Seriously though. Do hobbies for you. Not for a girl(s)! It's for you to enjoy. Besides, it's a combat sport and seriously tough. It's a cool hobby to have.

Whilst I also think BJJ is the dog's bollocks (I've been doing it for 3 years, alongside boxing, muay thai and mma), it's gonna be very hard to not make it appear gay...

However:

Instead of taking the girls to bjj competitions, offer to demonstrate some moves on them... have a little play fight, teach them the triangle choke & the body triangle and let them apply it on you :)

This should get things to heat up very quickly!

Some great replies to this, but I must admit, this stuck out. Sounds like you've been doing basically the same as me mate, nice.
Yeah that's true, do you usually do the demonstrations in the bedroom or?
Any other moves you'd suggest, I'm a 6'5" guy who is 85KG, and last time I was showing a girl a triangle she kinda squealed and I was like UHHH WTF!? then realised I was pulling her hair with my leg... :\

Haha, I've done that too!

I usually do it on the sofa or on the bed... Sure, ou can show girls other moves like the americana, omoplata, rear naked choke... etc... I just like having their legs wrapped around my neck ;)
But yea, you can also show a girl how to attack from a classic guard, how to transition from a kimura to a guillotine, and get her to try it... then wiggle a little when you're in her guard ;)

In fact bjj is brilliant like that as I find a bit of play fighting can get girls quite excited, and things can heat up very quickly under the pretence of showing her a few moves!

That is fucking golden! That makes me want to start BJJ back up immediately.

I use to do a little BJJ at my college (we had a BJJ club) and there were some pretty cute girls that were in it. It was pretty tough being serious about honing your skill when you are wrapped up with a hot girl like that. Damn... I really want to start doing this again....

In response to what you were originally posting about though - You've let this girl reframe your MMA into being gay. Get that shit out ASAP IMO. Theres nothing gay about it. Your fucking battling which is historically the essence of manhood. Whoever accepts the frame that BJJ, wrestling, or any martial art for that matter is gay is really someone who is afraid to get their ass kicked. If its a girl - shes just pushing your buttons.

Completely agree with what everyone says... Lads that knock mma/bjj etc are the ones that are too lazy and soft to ever try such extreme sports and use this as a way to justify why they aren't doing anything as extreme.

Girls that say stuff like that... simply a neg, if you get a girl likes to tease you could say you are a millionaire football player and they'd probably tease you about it, girls neg too... it's not necessarily a bad sign.

I do judo and mma as well and find having a bit of a play or getting just a little rough to get things heated works wonders! (get an innocent play fight very heated very quick by confidently throwing a girl onto the bed).

Also; Never Back Down is amazing... as cheesy as it is.

Haha yeah that's true, the one guy I did convince to come down once has alot more respect for me and what it is now. Guess I was just looking way to much into it. :)
