Need some help with female Psychology. Maybe this isn't a standard question, but you're the experts and I'm hoping you can help...
A girl I know let me stay with her for a few days when I was in town on business. I've known her for a few months and she's really cute, but I'd say that there's probably no chance of a relationship developing (known her too long, gotten too comfortable as friends).
Anyway, I'm really grateful for her and her female housemates offering me a place to stay and generally looking after me and I really want to send her something to say thank you.
Given our relationship, will sending flowers creep her out? Too romantic? I'm pretty sure I'm just a beta, nice guy in her eyes and don't want her to feel obligated for anything or uncomfortable around me in future (I really want her around as a friend), but she is a great girl and deserves thanking.
Thanks!

Alernatively, if you want to avoid any possible confusion, and still make a real nice gesture, send her a plant: it does not have romantic overtones, and often girls get really attached to their plants & prefer them to perishable flowers.

So romantic that it's rediculous but make it very clear that it's a joke. She'll love it. _________________ Quantity. For someday, you will find quality. And you gotta do something in the meantime.

Don't get me wrong, I'll treat girls on a night out in a nice restaurant but only after I've had sex with her. _________________ Quantity. For someday, you will find quality. And you gotta do something in the meantime.

Something that shows how well you know her. It will show your appreciation for her as a friend and a woman. It can also help change her perception of you without having to risk your current friendship.
If all else fails and you don't know what to choose. I would go with Agent Juliet and his suggestion of a plant. It is very neutral yet has a personal affect, it is a gift that needs attention and each time she waters it, their is a good chance she will be reminded of you and the nice gesture. If you go with the plant, make it exotic and unique.
Stay away from flowers they only last about a week. _________________ Seduce their mind and the rest will follow.

If memory serves correctly, carnations are to be sent for situations when friendship is expressed.
A "sterile" gift of appreciation would be a gift card for something she is interested in or could use, like to a book store or a coffee shop, along with a BRIEF note saying thanks.
