Someone in chat linked this to me. There is no answer to this. I read this and thought to myself that this story is meant to F with your mind ( or you "enlightened" ones may say it's made to make you think)...Ultimately everyone dies so his choice doesnt really matter, the monkey is picking his brain, probably getting him all upset and none of it really matters.

Read through all the shit here. There is an answer it is just supposed to be searched in a different way than we're used to think. I don't know the answer... I now really know nothing about this koan. (which...according to our "mentors" here is good btw) But I've come to the realisation that there must be a way out if this trap, because the trap is just an illusion, created by our egos that try to justify this whole situation. Which is completely unnecessary and counterproductive. It distracts us from the true answer.

Finally after two months it´s all so clear, I thought it was supposed to be some kind of deep answer, but it is super simple.

I'll Kill the Monkey and then PM ZAC L to get enlightened

Waiting there aiming at the monkey forever will keep both parents alive. But I'll always have a doubt in my mind whether what the monkey said is true or not - how do I find out without losing sight of my goal. And by waiting aimlessly I don't get any more enlightened

By going back I'll lose a parent anyways

I made the decision to kill - So I'll kill. As a hunter I could have thought of every scenario but now that I'm faced with a situation I never knew could existed I'll look to cut my loses and reach my goal

So I'll Kill the Monkey

Go inside the circle. No one ever reached their goals without getting hit. If the Goal is good (getting inside the circle in this case) then a bad scenario will not derail me.
