Brazilian Jujitsu, Krav Maga, Tai Chi, pick two out of the three and your good.

You're fuckin stupid if you recommend Tai Chi as a martial art. GTFO. Don't ever post in this section ever again.

No I recommend Tai Chi to help with meditation and its defensive and health benefits, not as a form of martial arts to just go up to a kid and kick his ass. Tai Chi is great for mental clarity, and this will help you in fights. If you actually have been in fights, or witnessed amateur fights, people generally do not think about their next move or any moves rather punch punch kick punch kick punch... Tai Chi will help with that issue. Also one of its main forms is style which will help with the other MMA it will get you comfortable with your body and its limits, then you can go into other advance.
I was also possibly going to state to do Akido or Hapkido, but decided there would be no need unless he himself discovers it and decides he enjoys those styles and pursues it. I also forgot to mention Parkour for the ability to use surroundings to your advantage as well as being able to escape scenario's in different methods. Someone here mentioned the best fighters use as little energy as possible to fight, so both of these would help.

Edit: Tai Chi is meant to follow your opponents movement and rather fight with brute tire out your opponent and then follow through with brute. As I said before its best to attack with more energy than your opponent. *Done editing*

Last thing, I am curious, I have no idea who you are, and didn't realize I was talking to some expert on the matter. Do me a favour, introduce yourself when you decide to be an asshole. Then do me another favour, can you do some research, on the topic and your inner self, cause you clearly have some issues if you were that easily agitated to such a degree you felt it was your sole responsibility to kick me off this thread. Thanks I appreciate your input, and to the OP. I think you should study everything you read here then find what is best for you.

How's this?

Hi, I'm Soul and I used to compete in Amateur kickboxing for 5 years. I have 5 wins, 9 losses, and 0 draws. I've also got experience training overseas at Masato's Silver Wolf Gym for a few months in 2008. Currently, I work in fitness. I'm not talking out of my ass. If you need proof, look at my old matches on my youtube channel: youtube.com/soulfight

If meditation and shit is so important, why didnt you say yoga instead? Because you're a sinophile and you don't know shit about martial arts. I don't know what makes you an expert in the field, but I probably would have no idea who you are, and I'm sure martial arts schools in NY would have no idea who you are either.

EDIT: Also that relaxed feeling in a fight comes from experience and training. No gimmicks or stupid senior citizens dance classes can replace that. Are you also going to assume I fight with brute force because I don't do Tai Chi? If you didnt notice, EVERY martial art is based on using an opponents force against them, wtf do you think a counter attack is?

And you also pissed me off with that parkour statement. This isnt a fucking movie and it's clear you've never been in a fight.
I know we're in the same city, so don't you dare sarge near me. I don't even want you in the same fuckin borough as me. You're just gonna piss me off more.

I'm just gonna say this last sentence simply because I don't have a desire to argue this. I might not be as experienced as you, but I gave my opinion on what I felt he would enjoy learning I apologize for not meeting some sort of standard to share my opinions on a thread, please continue to reign your dictatorship in this thread. I am sure many find it to be the quintessential part of this thread.
