I'm finally losing weight! I was about 60lbs overweight, so It's definitely a work in progress.

Even when I was smaller, It seemed like all my weight was around my stomach. Well now, an extra 60lbs is around my gut.

So I was wondering what I could do really shed the fat especially around my stomach, and also my thighs..I'm trying to shrink my man boobs too lmao.

And for arms, I was wondering what I could do to give my biceps that real curl and I was trying to get that thick vein to show up through them too.

Any help, fellas?

It all starts with diet. If your diet isn't clean, then you'll never get the body that you want. Reduce your starchy carbs and refined sugars as much as possible. Get lots of protein and make sure you get your unsaturated fats.

Eat smaller meals throughout the day. Avoid junk. Drink lots of water. Get plenty of sleep. Avoid alcohol as much as possible. Vegetables are your friend, pasta is not.

As for exercise, do alot of cardio and compound movements (exercises that hit several muscle groups -- ie squats, pullups, bench press, etc.)

Most beginners make the mistake of doing too many isolated exercises (only one muscle group -- ie bicep curls) because they want their arms to get bigger but this is not the most efficient strategy. Chinups/pullups will hit your biceps and will also hit the back, shoulders and core to promote muscle synthesis and fat burning.

Also, do some high intensity cardio (HIIT) as opposed to slow, gradual cardio (ie 45 mins light jog on treadmill) to avoid hitting plateaus and to burn fat at a much quicker pace that will also jumpstart your metabolism.

Make sure you give your muscles time to recover. 3-5 times at the gym per week is all you need if you're eating properly and doing the correct routine. Good luck.

One very good method in losing your belly is the following:

When you eat your food, take your time when chewing, very slowly and chew many many times.

When you've put a spoonful of food in your mouth, put the spoon down and chew chew chew slowly. This will make sure you don't rush your food. The act of chewing slowly and more will send a signal to your brain that will make you feel more satisfied and eventually you will learn that you will become full quicker than before.

We all tend to chew very fast, and we actually eat more than we need; so fast that we don't feel full.

Moreover, the better you chew, the easier the digestion is in your stomach, meaning you get the most out of it.

ANOTHER GREAT TIP:

NEVER eat and drink at the same time. If you feel thirsty, wait 20 minutes - 30 minutes after you eat and then you can drink. Likewise, if you've just had something to drink and you wanna eat, wait 20 mins before you eat. This will ensure you do not get bloated! and will help with you losing your gut!!!

Wishing you all the best!

Diet plays a big part in losing the belly. Its all about creating a calorie deficit. If you consume less calories than you burn, the belly flab will start to go. Easier said than done I know!

As for getting the veins on the arms, they usually start to appear when your bodyfat% gets down to in to the teens. After that, abs should start to appear mid to low teens.

All the above advice is good. If you want to post up your daily diet I will have a look at it and give you some tips. Also put up your stats, height, weight, etc.

Around your chest and stomach fat will normally be the last to go. As far as i know you cant really specifically target these areas for fat loss, you need to get your overall bodyfat to a low %. Like kiwi said the basis of it all is calorie deficit. Less in more out etc. So obviously eating less is one way to achieve this but its no good if your metabolism plummets as a result. So bump your metabolism first and then start a lifestyle with low calorie intake that maintains your metablosim.

So start with a healthy but not exactly low calorie diet whilst doing a couple of months of heavy weight lifting. Aim for muscle gain and target large muscle groups such as the legs. This should increase your metabolism. Green tea, green coffee and capsican (sp.) are also really good for this. Aim to eat in the mornings and avoid large dinners in the evening.

After the first couple of months you can then hammer the cardio and blow away the fat. Interestingly I read a recent study where people who dieted hard 2 days a week and ate usually for the rest of the week lost substantially more than those dieting across the whole week. They had to have an extremely minimal diet for the 2 days but i guess that across a day the metabolism doesn't have the time to drop like it does across a week. I'm giving this method a go, using rest days in my weight training. Hopefully I can dodge the cardio this way lol. Anyway, best of luck

Men store fat in the gut, women in the ass and the hips.

Somebody mentioned carbs, carbs are good when u are very active and exercise alot, but if u are like most people, u dont burn excess carbs and it gets stored as fat.

Most people have a danish, a donut, oe cereal for breakfast. then they have a sandwhich for lunch with bread, then they have pasta with their dinner.

U could exercise an hour a day and still not burn off those excess carbs.

The low carb diet is controversial, but it can help your body release excess fat from your stomach. The problem with low carb is its a hard diet to stay on, and u can lose water and muscle as well as fat.

But there is a new way to do it. rotating carbs

go on the low carb diet for say 5 days, and then take two days off reloading the carbs, having as many as u want. Then after the two days go back to low carb or nor carb, do this for a few months and u will see how much fat u burned.

and u wont lose muslce or water because u repleted yourself before the side effects of the diet can get you.

I tried it, and I found even on the carb days I was losing weight, and u have something to look forward to, u know in a few days u can eat what u want.

Then once u trim down go on a modified version of the diet.

Here are the 3 best pieces of advice I have on this.
1. Stick with it... this isn't jut about getting laid here. If you are healthier you will live longer and better. Its not easy either so commit to the long haul and don't get discouraged.
2. Take vitamins so you don't end up missing something you need in your diet.
3. To lose weight cut out 250 calories from what you are eating on average and commit to burn 250 extra each day. I use my fitness pal to help track this.
4. Compound movements are great but bring it is the best advice I ever got in the gym. You have to attack the weight and push yourself to fail so you are better next time.
