So I want to make my own look, so I stand out a bit... but I obviously don't want to over do it, the only question I had....

Should I wear diamond (fake) earings or not?

and how do you guys dress?

That depends on your look overall man... Some guys wear earings of diffrent sizes and types... some don't. It just kind of depends on your style in general.

With some of us, our avatars on here show a sample of how we dress.

I think the better question is, as Doc alluded to, what's YOUR style? Post a pic of yourself and maybe some members here will have some advice for you.

I'm assuming you're refering to avatar as in your image, not the pic to the left? Damn you Mystery for using that word in your VH1 show!

There's one word I like to use when I'm trying to improve someone's image. "Congruence". You need to have congruence with your image. If you are more of a goth person and you wear diamond (especially fake) diamond earrings, then you are going against everything else that you are. If you are a gangster type and that type of stuff impresses people and it fits with your self-image, then sure, go nuts. Although I personally don't like to get "fake" things, its too try-hard in my opinion, if you can't afford something then don't pretend you can, you're just doing yourself a disservice.

Personally I wouldn't ever try to pull off diamond earrings, fake or otherwise, just because its not congruent with the rest of my image. Currently in my right ear I have a 14g stainless barbell industrial (getting a lightning bolt made out of a chunk of stainless, with tribal carved into it), in my left ear, I have 4 rings in the top cartilage each one slightly less thick than the next going upwards, silver, gold, bronze and black. Now, its not a look that just anyone is gonna be able to use, because its kinda artistic and alternative, but that's my image, that's my Frame.

Also you must consider your body type. If you're 5'8 you would not be able to pull of the fuzzy black top-hat that the 6'5 Mystery can. You'd look like some sort of leprechaun pimp. If you're skinny, you would not pull off overly baggy clothes that a football player would, lest you want to look like you got on the wrong end of a shrink ray.

So if you're short, vertical stripes are your friend. If you're skinny, wear more fitted, slender clothing. If you are overweight, wear larger clothes to appear slimmer. All in all, it's all about common sense. Remember to dress in a manner that stands out whilst complimenting your body type and you can never go wrong.
