Sorry for the late reply but if you've only been flirting with this girl and you're not actually in a relationship with her I personally don't see what buying her a present would achieve. I wouldn't buy her a gift until I had been in a relationship with her for a while (assuming you do want to get with her on a permanent basis) Only my humble opinion though!

BTW did you actually get her anything?
